DD is the cute chick, I'm the hen.This is our second annual Disney Vacation together. Last year we went to WDW and this year we tried DL. I'd only ever been to WDW and was pleasantly surprised by how much I really liked about DL. Our first day we were met at LAx by my wonderful boss at PAC PARTS. I work at a division in Portland and had never seen our main offices in Gardena. When the owner heard I was coming to visit Disney, he insisted on picking us up at the airport and taking us to see the operations before arranging to have someone take us to our hotel...It was very sweet and I was impressed by how hugh the place really is.
When DD and I checked into the Paradise Pier Hotel, they had our "1st Visit Buttons" and our authographed Mickey photo. We had also been upgraded to a SUITE! It wasn't quite ready and so we headed to Whitewater Snacks for something to eat. I had a chicken sandwich that was a bit too peppery for my tastes but it hit the spot. Our rooms were ready upon our return. The suite is funky, one double door leads to two single doors, one side held a king bed, pullout couch, a desk with two chairs and the large wardrobe with the tv, DVD, small fridge and a safe. There was also a large bathroom. The other side had a very large sofa (also pullout) a dining table and inside the wardrobe was a tv and a larger fridge plus a microwave. This room also has a bathroom (handy). It was odd because the rooms didn't connect per se. With the one large door closed you could keep the secondary doors open but it felt exposed. Still a great room and I've no complaints. Everyone was friendly and efficient./albums/p21/rosiepik/CIMG0051.jpg[/IMG] [ Tara and I had 4:30 appointments at The BodyCentre Spa in Orange. I had tried to get feedback about this place but no one seemed to know of it. It looked like it was a cheap place for massages and such. I arranged for a package that included a scrub, a wrap and a 2 hour massage for only $150. I really didn't expect too much, just thought it would be fun to do. I asked for the front man to call us a cab and after 20 minutes it still hadn't come. He called again but we ended up using a cab someone had just stepped out of. We were very late and Tara was almost in tears but we pushed on. What should have been a ten minute cab ride endewd up more like 20 minutes due to traffic and instead of being $12 like I'd anticipated it was $26...oh well. This driver was very nice and pointed out various things. He also gave us his cell phone and came back promptly to get us when we had finished. The staff at the Bodycentre was great, they cut the massages to an hour and fifteen minutes and charged me $130. I went in to sweet smelling room that played Enya (ugh) but I was just so happy to stop I did my best to relax and unwind. The scrub was vigorous and thorough. The wrap was just a blanket and as Enya continued to play, the massage was soft and gentle. Tara said she had ocean sounds and a deeper massage ( I envied her).
Back at the hotel...I bought a yogurt and a croissant and coffee for the morrow's am at the lounge area bar. I wish this place was expanded and had more foods like cereal and such but I was glad to have that coffee.
It was room service for dinner. Grilled cheese for me and a burger for Tara followed by Mickey rice krispy treats for dessert. Room service was fast and we happily munch dinner in our PJ's while watching trashy tv.
Mickey'll wake us up tomorrow for Universal..the bus picks us up at 8:30 am. (groan) Have I mentioned I'm not a morning person?????
