One cup Coffee Makers

I need opinions....anyone used any of the new one cup at a time coffee makers that are out there this year? I am looking at the various ones that have the coffee pods. They are all in about the same price range and none of them seem to use gourmet coffees. DH loves his coffee in the morning, but he always makes several cups worth in the regular coffee maker that we have and only takes one in his travel mug to work. I am thinking one of these other deals might be a better idea. However, he likes either Caribou (a local company still, I think) or Starbucks. Can he get the same taste/quality?

I have just a regular Black & Decker (two actually - one here, one at the lake) and could NOT live without it! I hate coffee that has been "sitting" for longer than 15 minutes or so - literally turns my stomach - so I make a fresh cup of Folger's each time..

I have a Melitta that does NOT use the pods, I can put in whatever type of coffee I choose (which I like, because I like to grind my own). It is a 2-cup model that came with 2 travel mugs. But, you can brew one or two cups at a time.

I LOVE it. My mom got it for me for my birthday, and it is perfect, since DH does not drink coffee at all.

I got my hubby the Melitta with the pods for Christmas, he does the same thing as your hubby. I got an assorted pack of 162 pods, some of them are tea (he likes tea too, so do I). You have to use the Melitta pods, but it does contain some good flavors. Not sure how they are yet though.

I have a Melitta 2 cup model I got from Gevalia years ago. I love it, it's still going strong. I only use it to brew one cup in the morning. What's great about it is that I can use ANY coffee & any amount I want, not just pods.

The salesman at Bed, Bath & Beyond said the biggest complaint of these new one cup makers is that NONE of tghem really get the water hot enough to brew a decent cup of coffee. During a store demo, even the Black & Decker guy admitted it.

Also, from what I heard, the pods are NOT interchangeable from one maker to the next. And you can't regulate the strenght of the pods. They are very expensive compared to regular coffee.

I have the Philips Senseo and I love it! My coffee seems to be plenty hot enough. I wish the pods were more readily available, but I did find a little filter shaped like the pods so that I can buy any kind of ground coffee and use it in my pod coffee machine.

I have a Home Cafe on the way--can't wait to get it!

I suspect that once these systems become widely used, EVERY coffee company will offer pods.

It's more expensive than the pod ones, like Senseo, (the home model is $169) but you can get over 70 different types of coffee to fit it. No starbucks, but green mountain, gloria jean's, etc. It makes a quick cup of coffee and I love it. It's well worth the extra $$. A friend of mine bought a Senseo and I tried some of the senseo coffee. I didn't really care for it.

Hmmm, I am thinking that Melitta one people are talking about is probably the way to go. Now anyone want to make my life really easy and tell me where to buy it??

I bought myself a Cook's Essential's one last Christmas from QVC. Doesn't use the pods. I use a small cone shaped filter and any type of coffee. It will make one cup, two cups or a small carafe.

I used it everyday and love it. I start everyday with a "candy in a cup!!"
