I have told my family of 6 we can dine at one TS restaurant. Any suggestions? We've done sci-fi, 50's prime time and Cinderella's castle. We did these for the kids when they were little and I didn't expect the food to be great. Now I'm more interested in good combination of better food and atmosphere and value. we live near Chicago so we have experience with plenty of great restaurants...any thoughts...?

What kind of foods do you enjoy? Consider the restaurants in World Showcase.

That's what I was thinking. We like just about anything. I love WS but haven't ever eaten there. Another thing I was debating is if a meal at a park would be better (in terms of atmosphere) than say a WDW resort restaurant (say Boma).

When will you be going to WDW, MeggP? Disney is offering the free dining plan for check-in mid-August to the end of September. Just a thought! We will be a family of 9 so I can completely understand the cost for a family of 6. :faint:

last week in May...I know we might not be able to get ADR's but I'm hoping we might have luck at the beginning of the week...we just decided we could go (delay because of dh's work). Anyway, UG said except for character meals it's possible to get ADR 2 - 3 weeks before...

All the deals always seem to be for times we can't go :(

I am having trouble getting past the idea of spending so much for the 6 of us on one meal.

Is the "regular" dining plan a possibility for you? It is 37.99 a day for adults and 10.99 for kids age 3-9. Kids are free under the age of 3. Yet I know that adds up big time for a large family. Just a thought.

MeggP
37.99 age 10 and over per night
10.99 ages 3 to 9 per night
free under the age of 3
For each night of your stay at a Disney resort, each person gets the following:
1 Ts meal
1 CS meal
1 snack
for example, if you are staying 6 days/5 nights, each person is entitled to 5 TS meals, 5 CS meals and 5 snacks

thanks...I'll keep that in mind...
my kids are pretty good about not wanting snacks if I've brought our own. It's dh that gets carried away and wants to buy whenever he gets hungry or he thinks the kids "need" a snack...
maybe a dining plan would satisfy my need to feel like I have a hold on expenses and make my dh feel like he got to get what he wanted...maybe he'd get his satisfaction if one day he could buy all those on the plan...it's a thought...thanks

Whatever you decide, I am sure you will have a wonderful time! :wizard:
