One Bedroom at BCV or BWV?

I am booking a trip for October and I am on the fence about if we should book a one bedroom at Beach Club Villas or at Boardwalk Villas? We will have our 17 month old daughter with us and we plan to use the pool as well. (Not sure if SAB will really matter at that age). Which would you choose?

Honestly the 1 bedrooms at both resorts are basically identical in setup. Which resort do you prefer overall? Are you planning to walk to both Epcot and DHS? Boardwalk is closer to HS for walking while BCV is amazingly close to Epcot. I personally don’t care for Boardwalk. Every single time we’ve stayed at BWV, we’ve always had some sort of maintenance issue with the room (bad toilet, faucet, etc.) Plus the elevator and long hallways at BWV are irritating (even more so with a stroller I’d imagine). Beach Club is one of our DVC home resorts, and for us we’d pick BCV every time! And we definitely prefer SAB over the clown pool. 😲

Lol, I sold BCV because I couldn't get anyone in my family to stay there over BWV. I initially bought because of SAB. That ended up being the 2nd reason, always crowded, it was like living at a water park and their quiet pool is unimpressive compared to BWV's. I am not knocking BCV just pointing out different views :).

I loved my stay in the one bedroom at the boardwalk, one of my favorite rooms from all my trips. I like the boardwalk more than beach club in general, but have stayed more at beach club just because it always ends up being the cheaper option. I haven’t stayed in a one bedroom at beach club though so I can’t compare how those are.

Their room layouts are identical and they were renovated around the same time.

I think BWV has better views and the DVC wing is connected to the lobby. BCV is a separate building from BC, so you have to walk outside to get from the lobby to the DVC rooms.

BCV has better access to Epcot. BWV is closer to HS.

The Market Place at BC has been temporarily relocated to the Solarium during its refurbishment. No official reopening date has been given. BWV has the Screen Door for limited groceries and sundries. The Boardwalk Bakery serves as its quick service location, although selection is limited.

SAB can be a nightmare with very young children but the sandy bottom beach area is really appealing. BWV’s feature pool is colorful but the splash pad is just so-so. Plus, the clown is kind of scary. The leisure pools at both resorts tend to be less busy. If your child just wants water to splash around in, the leisure pool at either will serve just fine.

BWV has a community hall with activities and games. Hours and offerings may be limited during this time but it is definitely open. I believe that they have removed all crayons and only have markers for coloring (maybe not something you want for a 17-month old).

My own preference is for BWV, which is why I own there and not at BCV. But you really won’t go wrong with either one.

We own BWV and just snagged BCV for Nov. We prefer BCV a tad over BWV because of closeness to Epcot and because it is a little more quiet and quaint. Plus rhe parking at BCV is better. However one difference is no jetted tub in BCV 1BR. They removed them and put in plain soaker tub. BWV still has the jetted tubs. If that is important to you. The big difference, and reason we bought at BWV instead of BCV, is the lower point costing standard view. If you can get that, then maybe it is worth it to save some points.

Good info above. Can't add anything but to make a minor correction to the OP's post. "BWIV" as in Board Walk Inn Villas is incorrect. BW has two parts, Board Walk Inn, which is the hotel side; and Board Walk Villas, which is the DVC side. Although they are in the same overall building, they are very separate parts. BWI is nearer Epcot, BWV is on the side near the Swophin.

I love them both. BCV has more inside stuff, meaning places to sit, as well as shop and eat (if you include YC). At BWV, you have to go down to the Boardwalk to eat and shop, for the most part (tiny lounge, tiny shop inside, only other place to sit is lobby). Sometimes that makes a difference, sometimes it doesn’t. Normally BCV is harder to book.

If you have a car, parking at BCV is much more convenient than at BWV. The parking lot is right near the back door to the villas and there is an elevator when you come in that door. At BWV, the parking lot is small and you may have to park further in the back or on the opposite side, closer to the Inn. Then you have to walk uphill to the villas. The BCV has two elevator banks, BWV only has one.

I really enjoy them both, but I slightly favor BCV. It is so close to EP and the Skyliner and you can quickly get to the QS option at BC via a covered walkway (the QS at BWV is on the Boardwalk and is not convenient when it rains). I also like that the bus stop is so close to BCV. SAB has a lovely, sand-bottomed children's pool and a great quiet pool. If price were the same, I would pick BCV.

I was typing quickly and did not realize the error. I have corrected it. Thanks.

Thanks for mentioning this point. Traveling with a little one makes this pretty important to us. I think if it were were just my husband and I we would choose BWV given all the points mentioned here and I love the atmosphere there, but leaning towards BCV with a toddler in tow.

With a small baby definitely BCV because of the zero entry and sandy bottom pool. I prefer the Boadwalk but if your planning relaxed pool time you will be able to actually sit and relax while he/she plays for hours with that sand!! Have a wonderful trip!

I would think the sandy part of SAB would be special for your little one if digging in the sand is fun! A lot to clean up, however for you!
Personally, my choice is BCV when swimming weather, BWV in cooler weather.

Enjoy!!! We're also going in Oct, and had to make this decision. We own at BWV, and love staying there, and stay often in the 1 bedroom. I have been wanting to try BCV for awhile, and were going to this summer, before that got cancelled. A few weeks ago, we found availability at BCV, so we switched. I am hoping to love it as much as BCW, and really hoping to enjoy SAB pool, that everyone raves about. hope to get lots of pool time in. We always walk to Epcot/HS from BWV< Hope the trek from BCV to HS is not too much farther. We always drive, and yes, the parking lot is kind of a pain at BWV, but I guess we've gotten used to it. We've also gotten used to the long hallways, so that doesn't bother us....but I do remember dragging stuff up the stairs when kids were little....that was kind of a pain. Hope y'all have a great trip and love BCV! will have to compare notes on our first stays.

I was just asking my 20 year old son which is better BC or BW for a 17 month old...his response made me laugh...the baby won't know he could be in an inflatable pool. Had to share as I thought it was funny. But I think BCV - the yacht club side mitt be best for a toddler. My kids loved that area when they were small! We purchased BCV specifically for SAB

We also own both....and rent out the BCV points.
I think Storm-along-Bay is more appealing if one doesn't mind busy public pools - for us, it's just overly crowded & chaotic.
Add in the amazing BW views, nighttime entertainment & JellyRolls (during non-covid), Community Hall, Abracadabar, etc, and BWV always wins.
