I've got a question. I "heard" off this board awhile ago, that to really save some money and to get as many Mr. Potatohead accessories for the amount they charge to fill the box, that you should buy a regular Mr. Potatohead at Wal-Mart of Target because they are exactly the same as the ones at Disney.

Can anyone confirm that for me?

Thanks - DisneyDiane

Yes, I can confirm! That is what we did. We crammed a bunch of PotatoHead parts into the box. The CM's do tell you that if you do get a potato with your purchase that you should open the back flap and fill his insides with potato parts too.

Does anyone know just how much it costs per box?

also how many pieces do you think you can get into a box?

Thanks!:bounce:

We got ours at DCA in California so don't know if price is exactly the same. It was $15.00

We went ahead and got the potato body - but the parts will fit onto any Mr. Potato head. The CM helped - we got at least one of every part they offered and more of some. I was amazed at how much she got into the back of that potato! Sorry I can't give you an exact number - brought it home and put it in the big rubbermaid box with all the other potato head stuff!

In Sept, it was $16.95 and we got at pretty much one of everything into the box, including several pairs of feet. I'm looking forward to getting more this year because I've heard they have some new pieces (bride & groom Mickey hats, etc.)

We just used the Mr Potato Head our DD already has and that worked out great! IMHO, the way to do it is to fill the box with parts only and get a cheaper potato at Walmart!

The price after tax is $17.12.

AND I'M REALLY ANGRY WITH THIS!! AARUGH!! They have the COOLEST accessories now...a Mad Hatter hat, the "Disney Bear", a Buzz Lightyear car...grr! Now I'm gonna have to buy just a box of parts! :)

Where do I purchase this? I'll be in WDW in August and would love to buy this for my preschool class I work with.

Is it a tub you buy? You can fill it with accessories?

Is there a link to see what they look like?

Someone, anyone, please help!

You can find these in Downtown Disney at Once Upon a Toy, in the store in Toontown at the MK and I think there are a few other places to get them as well. You get to fill a cardboard box...sort of like a happy meal box but narrower. We just used the bodies that DS already had and filled the box up with parts. If you don't have bodies, remember it's garage sale season and surely you can find some realllly cheap, just throw them in the dishwasher :)

We got one in March and filled the box with parts only. We have a body at home already.

Many of the stores have various parts but we were told to go to DownTown Disney's toy store to see all the parts. We got the sweet teddy bear and some cute hats but we could not get one of everything in the box but we got what we really wanted and the clerk did help stuff the box. I think we paid $15 or $16 for it!

They also had a mini potato body and some of the parts were interchangable. It was really cute. ::yes::

Ok, I am dating myself, but how many of you remember when Mr. Potato Head sets came with just the parts and you used a real potato?
And there was no Mrs Potato Head.
And Mr. Potato Head smoked a pipe? Peggie

Funny you should mention that! As we were picking out parts I was telling my daughter the same thing and she thought I was pulling her leg!

Oh yes I remember it well and I also remember the smell when a favorite outfitted Mr. Potato got put away and rotted! ::yes::

We got one at aL last summer. I just HAD to see how much I could cram in the box. The whole time I was packing it in, DH is standing there grumbling about paying that much money when our kids are 11, 14, and 19. He kept saying no one would play with it.
Well...we went from there to eat lunch. I look up from my salad and DH has the parts spread out laa over the table and is having a ball...I mean a potato!

I am sooo looking forward to doing this!! :hyper:

Thanks for the tip of leaving out the potato body and using one from home, I was thinking that you'd have to buy the body there too.

My husband also complained that DD would never play with them...but when he saw us trying to pack it in...he jumped right in! We never could got all the parts back in the box afterward!!! DD also played with it maybe two times. I kind of wish we would have gotten the set with the case at our resort, that way we could have something to store them in to keep them all together, right now I have them in a plastic zip lock in the toy box.

We have a hard case that we got at Target a while back so that's where I store most of DS's parts. He has a lot of little baby potato heads and parts for those too, so I started saving the packages that pillow cases, etc. come in (the thick plastic zipper ones like for a comforter). We use them for a lot of his toys that have little pieces and they work out great!! They are much thicker than a zip lock bag and they are great for storing wet clothes at the beach too!

We also did this at Downtown Disney for our granddaughter who is 3. Guess who was stuffing the box for her? My husband, my 25 year old and 20 year old daughter!:hyper: They considered it a challenge! Then we went to POC at MK and found the pirate set for $6.00 and bought it! Then when I came home our Big Lot store was closing up for remodeling and I bought the beach set and the birthday set each for $4.00! Now she has a whole large container of them that she pulls out and we all play with. I also picked up an extra 2 potatoe heads that the ladies at work were going to just toss! Totally worth it as far as I'm concerned. everytime we go back I'll just pack up a box of all the new accessories! Yep that's what I'll do! ::yes::

DS is a pirate FANATIC!! I'll have to remember to get him the pirate set at POC. He would love it!!!

Thanks for the tip, now I have a reason to hit DD this summer!!
(Trying to find another spot to write this tip down in my passporter!!):bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Yep, at the same store, you can do the same thing with lincoln logs or tinker toys! You can also go to the Lego Imagination Center and stuff a box of lego parts. I think the best deal for that is to buy regular legos from Walmart and use the box to get parts, wheels, etc. :earsgirl:
