Once Upon A Time Season 4 "Let's Hope You Didn't Bring Anything ELSA Back"

Posted this in the other thread but thought I'd post it here too:

The weird thing is that Pongo is an actual dog in Storybrooke owned by Dr. Hopper (Jiminy Cricket), whereas all the other characters who were speaking animals in Fairy Tale World are humans in Storybrooke. I'm sure at the time they gave Dr. Hopper a dalmatian named Pongo early in season 1 they weren't really thinking beyond it being a playful little nod to yet another Disney movie. But now with a Cruella storyline it will be interesting to see what they do. Either Hopper's dog isn't the "real" Pongo or there was some kind of anomaly that caused Pongo to stay in dog form...or something. :confused3

It's been a while since I saw 101 Dalmatians. Did Pongo ever speak? I thought he could only bark. Maybe to Perdy but they would be speaking to each other in dog language.

If it is THAT Pongo, how did Dr. Hopper come to have him? He didn't have him in the Enchanted Forrest as Pongo would not have lived in the Enchanted Forrest and Dr. Hopper was a cricket.

Seems that maybe Pongo got to Storybrooke another way and ended up with Dr. Hopper there.

I wouldn't think they would let the detail of there being a Pongo there already just go and bring in another Pongo.

And no, Pongo does not speak to humans in the original, only to Perdy and the puppies.

Elsa and the Snow Queen and before them, the Wicked Witch have all gotten to Storybrooke in different ways than the curse. I would venture to guess that the same will be true of Cruella and maybe Pongo.

True. Who knows? Maybe Pongo was just wandering around and Hopper took him in. I wonder if the other Dalmatians will turn up.

OK, I've been hating on the frozeny stuff, but weaseltown made me happy :)

Loved the mickey baby at the play group. And they sang the same goodbye song as my daughter's preschool! Who was the dark haired girl there who snow said was new?

Sleeping Beauty, the leader was Cinderella.

I was so happy to see Cinderella! I was just talking the other day about how I wished she had more of a storyline. She is my favorite princess!

I was excited to see some back story for the snow queen! Can't wait until the 2 hour show next week!!

Can't help but really wonder how they will "fix" this with Marion! They can't just let her die to allow Robin and Regina to move on (well, they CAN but it doesn't seem right) and what are they do with her if she doesn't die?

Hmm, well I must be psychic, because a couple weeks back I posted how it bugged me that Cinderella was given a throwaway storyline seasons ago only to never be seen again, and then there she was last night. :) Wouldn't her baby be older than that by now though? He was born in like season one!

BTW, I don't think they'll rest until they duplicate every character in the Frozen universe.

I'm late to the party but jumping in! :)

I'm a bit over the Frozen storyline myself. Not necessarily because it's Frozen but because we aren't meeting new and interesting characters, IMHO. Elsa seems two dimensional to me. The snow queen seems like a recycled Regina- a conflicted, misunderstood evil queen now that the original is trying to be good.

And being good doesn't have to mean being boring but you'd never know that by how Regina acts. Depriving herself of happiness isn't necessarily good either but I let that slide because she's just learning how to not be evil. ;) Though I think it's absolutely ridiculous that anyone thinks staying away from Regina will make it easier for Robin to fall in love with a block of ice. To fall in love, even with someone you once loved, don't you need some interaction??

The best part of this season, IMO, has been the exploration into Belle, Gold, and Hook. They're characters all have nuances and they all have sides to themselves they wish didn't exist but they must acknowledge. Of course it's Disney-fied and taken to extremes but it's still more real to me than people who are portrayed as not having any flaws (like Snow and Elsa). I always say that you can throw anything at my willing suspension of disbelief, from time travel to talking animals, as long as I think the characters react to each other and the situation in a believable way. When people are too perfect (or their "flaws" are just not really that bad) it takes me out of the story.

Oh, and was I the only one who thought the when they guy turned into a little mouse in the episode where they found the hat was supposed to be Mickey??

What's ticking me off is we know the whole unconditional love thing saved Henry. Why are they not bringing in Roland to save his mom???

Nope, you weren't the only one.

I hadn't even thought of that!!
