Has anyone ever been on an October cruise? I keep getting a lot of questions from people such as "Aren't you afraid of the storms? That's still hurricaine season" and many like this. Has anyone had any problems before???

Our last cruise was in early November. Hurricane season was still going on. You never know when severe weather can happen. The ship tracks things like that and let you know in advance if they will be leaving from a different port. We had perfect weather when we went in November. I looked a lot at the Weatherchannel website to track the weather.

October is at the tail end of hurricane season, so still possible to get one, but not as likely as earlier in the season. They say that boats are one of the safest places to be if there's a hurricane because they can move. We took out separate trip insurance and did it within the 21 day window after putting our deposit down on the cruise, so we got the "cancel for any reason" coverage.

I've heard a lot of great things about cruising in October. The weather's generally good, warm water, cheaper rates :thumbsup2

Can we join in the fun? Another MN family here!! :goodvibes

This cruise will be a mother/daughter trip for us. It will be me and my three daughters (15, 13, and 12 at the time). We are leaving the boys at home! We are Platinum CC members so we have sailed the MAGIC and WONDER many times....but we can't wait for the DREAM! We splurged and booked a category V concierge stateroom. Then, we will be staying on board for the three night cruise on Oct 20th....we'll be moving to an inside stateroom for that leg of the cruise (had to be reasonable at some point!).

We are looking forward to planning with all of you and eventually meeting up in person!!!!

Sadly we have had to cancel this cruise...my DH has decided that 4 nights is simply not enough! We have switched to the 7 night cruise on the magic leaving the day before...I hope everyone enjoys the new ship!

love the name. This will be our 3rd October Cruise. Fingers crossed we have good weather this time.

Hello! Add my family to the group! I'm Kristen and I'll be traveling with my DH (Kevin) and kids Katy (will be 17) & Kyle (will be 15).

While we live in AL, DH and I were both born up north so we're right in keeping with the Midwest "theme." ;)

This will be our 3rd cruise and second for our kids. We've booked a Cat 11 room this time. Hoping we won't miss the verandah too much!

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Kristen

We are on our annual Disney trip now. We did 3 disney days and 6 days at Vero Beach. Passing those cruise line busses made me want to go earlier than next year.

Hiya, Popping in to say we may be switching from our May 22 cruise to this one! Has anyone started an FE exchange list yet?

No FE list yet. We did it on our last two cruises about a month or two months out. A lot of people are still adding or dropping the date.

Just wanted to say I've already posted to this board and our group is getting larger there will be approx 40 coming on this cruise with us now. Thank goodness not all in one cabin.

Don't worry about the Hurricanes we lived through Hannah, Ike and Gustav in 2008 and we will all have a dream of a time together on this one. Hurricanes or not. Disney takes care of you all the way in a very classy way.:cool1:

Looking forward to watching this board build as many more people join in.

For the FE we might have to split up the cabins into groups of 10 if it gets too large. We will have to play it by ear. Buying for 10 cabins is easier than buying for a large group and easier on the wallet

I agree, that's what most dis'ers do!:cool1:

We are Barry and Teresa will be traveling with our DS (24). Doing a b2b on the Wonder, so won't have to move or pack when we get back to Orlando. You probably won't see us on often for a while because we are leaving Friday for the eastbound transatlantic from Spain, 14 days on the Wonder. :yay: We have taken both a Oct and Nov cruise. The Oct one went great last year, but when we took one in earyl Nov 08, wouldn't you know it, a hurricane in the Atlantic. :scared1: Was scheluded on a eastern, and it got changed to a modified western, not our desire. I don't need to see Mexico again, thats all we did. We look forward to meeting you next year. Does anyone know if there is a Pirate party pirate: on the shorter cruises like on the 7 day ones.
