Once Upon A Disney Wish Live Updates

Now that the excitement of the reveal has subsided, I'm a little underwhelmed. The Wish lacks the "wow" factor for me. For a company with a history of imagination, they seemed to fall flat. It's like DCL did a lengthy dry dock on the Dream or Fantasy. A few new restaurants and bar themes. A few more Concierge rooms. An updated AquaDuck. I guess I was hoping for the Wish to really differentiate itself from the rest of the fleet.

I expected it to elevate DCL to the next level. Instead it seems like a downgrade. The rooms are nice. But I’m not going to pay $10k or more for the higher end rooms, which seem to be the big perk for this ship.

I really like the Fantasy. And I was hoping for a ship that elevated it to the next level.

The Wish seems like an overpriced booze cruise for adults since there is a limited number of things to do. And the ports are underwhelming.

Hopefully I get my wish and the next one is an elevated Fantasy.

I am just waiting on pricing at this point. I don't have to go a specific date but I would likely only go on a B2B as 3 or 4 nights isn't my idea of a vacation.

I am preparing to say "nope" unfortunately.

Since these next three are the same class, can we expect much difference among them?

Do you find the Dream v Fantasy much different? or Magic v Wonder? (Real question. I have my favorites in both classes, not just itineraries).

Think fantasy added the adult pool area falls thing right? They don't have that on the Dream?

Yep. Forgot about those aft suites.

Thanks. I’m notorious for looking at things and coming up with goofy conclusions.

Im surprised they are not near the concierge lounge. I guess they have their own sub-zero fridge and Concierge attending their needs. Who needs a shared lounge space.

I have only been on the Fantasy. I’m not interested in cruises less than 5 days. And my Alaskan one got canceled due to COVID, so I can’t comment on the Wonder, which is likely to be the next ship I sail on.

Sounds like he needs a Carnival cruise. When they say adults only at comedy, be prepared. The food is better, too. Definitely better pricing.

It’s funny you said that because my husband doesn’t want to go on Disney cruises since we’ve tried Carnival. Well, he was still open to sailing on both cruise lines ... until we sailed on Carnival Vista. Game over. I’ve never been able to convince him to book another DCL cruise after that one.

I've heard great things about Carnival Vista. I know Disney is geared towards families, but in the past they seem to have done a good job with adult offerings. However, on the Wish the adult offerings kinda seem like an afterthought with so many IPs in your face and less of the classic look.

I'm going to wait and see on the entertainment options. Hopefully, it gets expanded.

I agree. The classic look is one of the things I like the most on DCL.

The Vista doesn’t have that (the classic look) but has a lot to offer, not only for adults but for families as well. :)

Soooooooo many connecting rooms. :(

I'm going to have to go through the plans on the DCL Blog and make a list of the NON-connecting ones to have my TA look for first.

Sorry to double post, but wondering what people's thoughts are on whether pricing would be better in fall 2022? Specifically October?

On the one hand, that's usually low price season due to hurricanes and school back in session. On the other hand, maybe demand for the Wish over the summer will be so big they'll up the prices for fall. Anyone have experience with the Fantasy opening year prices that might serve as a reference?

Here is what I had from my TA back then - it was half a year later though instead of 3 months; the maiden was March 31, 2012:
"The rates right now are pretty much the same across the board in September. Here are the rates for a few stateroom categories for the September 22, 2012 Eastern Caribbean Sailing:

** Deluxe Ocean view Stateroom - Category 9B
Deck 2
Total for 2 guests: $2228.74

** Deluxe Inside Stateroom - Category 10A
Deck: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
Total for 2 guests: $2298.74

** Deluxe Ocean view stateroom with verandah - category 6B
Deck 5, 6, 7
Total for 2 guests: $2231.40

The October sailings look like they are a bit more than the September sailing at the moment. So - take a look at your calendar, and see what week works best for you next Fall.then we can switch your sailing and pick out the perfect stateroom!

My significant other called it the Brown Derby restaurant.

IMO it is Steakhouse 55 (preremodel) or Carthay Circle or... yeah they've done it a few times. ^^;

What I don't get is why Palo Steakhouse gets a B&B theming... shouldn't Cogsworth be in France, not Italy? They did not HAVE to stick with Palo themeing if they wanted to use something else.

I don’t get why they didn’t just go with a Be Our Guest restaurant on the cruise ship. We get in your face Frozen, but we can’t get B&B.

I like the fish at Palo. I found the steak underwhelming.

I feel like both Palo and Enchante are missing something. They are beautiful, but a little too sleek and modern. I feel they may look dated fairly soon. I just don’t feel they have the “soul” of past renditions. I also really loved the staterooms, initially, but in studying the space, I am disappointed in the tv placement and the storage. I like the larger tv, but feel it works better between the two areas. Will be very difficult for the kids to watch it if they are in bed. The cabinets with doors that are normally above the desk have been replaced with really narrow shelves. Will have to see how this space would function for us. Also, the first thing that really hit me were how SMALL the pools are. People already comment on how small the current pools are and being “kid soup”. Trying to imagine kids in these pools. I really like that the stage is in the middle of the Frozen themed restaurant. It will be easier for more people to really enjoy the show. I am excited to see the Marvel restaurant, but felt like since so much of the ship is more princess themed, it was kind of out of place. Will miss AP with more classic Disney. Love 1923! Just surprised to realize that none of the three restaurants have the more elegant feel of Triton’s, Lumiere’s, Royal Court or Royal Palace. It has a very rich and classic feel. I would have expected something more in line with those restaurants, especially with the theming of the Wish. Excited to see more things revealed!

I'm not at all fussed about the Marvel restaurant. I and my teenage daughter have no interest in the movies at all. My husband doesn't mind them.
Don't get me wrong, I understand why they have added it, and it will appeal to a different demographic than my family, but I felt that at least AP had universal appeal for all. My daughter won't be old enough for Palo the first time we sail on Wish (likely summer 2023) so we wouldn't even be able to go there on our Marvel night. I wish Palo was age 14 and older, that would suit us lol!
Wonder what the casual / buffet restaurant (if buffets are back by then) will be.

The Pools are a little odd to say the least. There seems to be a lot of wasted space around the pool deck.

The Aqua mouse looks a lot of fun.

Interested to see what the teen clubs will be like.

Will miss AP with more classic Disney.

Me too. I'm all for new dining concepts and restaurant ideas, but I think that AP would be a welcome addition to keep the tradition of a "flagship" MDR across the whole fleet. World of Marvel is a terrible name, it sounds like an exhibition or something, and I think that's where much of my reservations about it comes from - still a bit iffy about the blatant shoehorning of their various properties, but I got most of my angst out on that earlier. If WoM is meant to be "the AP of the Wish", a name like "Animators Palate featuring Marvel" could have been a nice way to both honor the tradition of having AP on every ship, and have a name that isn't so on the nose.
