ok so once again in the same day I am asking another question that I know has already been asked cause I cannot get the search engine to work.....

How and where can I get internet while at DW??? We are at the POP. Is there free WIFI anywhere or what are the charges to use my laptop?

TIA :)

There is no free internet access at any WDW resort, wireless or otherwise.

But there is wired high-speed internet in every WDW resort room. Cost is $9.95 per 24-hour period, and you don't have to enable it for the entire length of your stay - you can just enable it for 24 hours every few days as you need it.

There is free internet, if you have a dial up account. Local calls are now free in the resort rooms, so you can hook up your laptop and dial away. I did this at BWV last month and it worked fine for email and basic browsing. If you planned on downloading large files, it wouldn't be the best choice, but for the basics, it's fine.

There is WiFi access in some of the public areas of resorts that do conventions, but it's the same price as the wired high speed in the rooms, so no break there. If you just need access every now and then, you can also use the facilities at the business centers at the convention resorts. It's not free either, but it saves lugging your computer around if you only need it once in a while.

That is not true...The Contemporary offers computers in every room free... here is the information posted by Triplefigs on the CR thread:

The free computers in ALL rooms will access more than just Disney sites, but the Internet is filtered so not ALL sites will work. Wireless is $9.95 per day. When we went, we took DH's laptop and used an Ethernet cable to plug into the computer outlet in the wall under the desk. High Speed connection for FREE with no filtering! There is also a USB port on the side of the computer in the room to plug in cameras, etc.

Thats not "free internet," it's just a free phone call. You have to have your own dial-up internet account, which not everyone has.

I was aware of the computers in the Contemporary's rooms, but I was under the impression that they were not in all rooms, just some, as a pilot program.

As with all things Disney, rumors abound about this pilot program, the most common being that at some point the computers will no longer offer complete internet access for free, just Disney and related sites, but you will be able to pay an extra fee to have unrestricted surfing. Hopefully, this will not be the case and the access will continue to be free.

One thing I left out of my original post is that high-speed internet access IS free to all Disney Vacation Club members staying at a villa on points.

If you read my post, I said there is free internet access if you have a dial up account. I don't pay any additional costs for accessing the internet at Disney as opposed to accessing the internet at home. If you pay for the resort provided high speed or WiFi, then you do pay more for internet access than you do at home, because it's in addition to your normal home internet fees. No extra fee = free. I know not everyone has dial up as part of their internet package, but if they do, then they should know that it doesn't cost them anything extra to use it at Disney (provided they have a local number to call).

Quick question- if there are two persons in the room , each with their own laptop, would they each have to pay the internet fee, or does the $9.95 fee cover the room no matter how many laptops are being used?
TIA!

Not yet. AKV last weekend was saying it will start "in the spring."
