IF we were to book onboard using DVC points, is there any discount?
(Non-DVC can book onboard and get an onboard credit from $100-200 per stateroom).

Thanks!
Rae

That's a good question.

I assume the answer is no- since DVC cruise reservations must be done thru MS and therefore can't be booked while onboard, but I don't really know the answer. Perhaps someone else can offer a better response.

Member Services gave us a small point discount on the cruise we just took in October. We rebooked on the cruise at a very low rate (almost half price) for the coming January. They will not give you a point discount on board but the cash discount is so great that you wont want to waste your points.

Thanks to all who answered. We are going to try to do the DVC Alaska Cruise in summer 2004 but if there was a huge point discount for a DCL cruise, we'd be sorely tempted!

Again, thanks and happy sailing!

I posted the same question and was rewarded with a discounted point sceduale posted by another board member. The on-board point savings looked good to me - We are panning to book for Aug. 23 in a Cat. 9 w/ my 12 yr. old grandson and the on-board booking discounted points were 299 for the Eastern Magic 7-day. (for the 3 of us) I don't know what the cash price is for the Cat. 9 but - The on-board discounted points for a Cat. 7 was 385 and the cash price quote I got from DU was over $4,000 - so the points look good to me - We will be on-board the Wonder next week and I will decide what to do. I would rather use my points than lay out cash....

I posted the question to the Disney Cruise Line Forum - just look for the post under my name...it was a few days ago - Disney 6 answered and posted a chart for the 70day Magic discounted points for on-board bookings

I just found your other post on the DCL Forum:

I would love to see all of the point charts. We are using points for one of our cruises next year and cash for the other. One of the problems with points is being able to book early enough to get the room you want.

I may look at the point chart discout next year to see if we would want to book again with points. We love the cruise and I want to go at least once a year!

The discounted points is a new program benefit for booking onboard. You must book within the 11 month window, and you MUST call member services within 3 days of your cruise to confirm your reservation and points. We just booked using our points while onboard for a savings of 11 points per person for a Cat. 6.

Rae519, where have you seen info about an Alaska cruise in 2004? That's the year we are planning to cruise next, and I'd love to do this! Diana

The "DVC Alaska Cruise" is an option through the DVC Adventurer Collection. The cruises are operated by Holland America Line, not Disney Cruise Line. There's a point chart for 2003, but not for 2004, on page 76 of the 2002-2003 Member Guidebook,

Duh, I knew that! I had heard rumors of a DCL Mediterranean cruise, so my mind said why not an Alaska cruise? Well, guess we can dream. Anyway, if they DID do it, we'd be there! Diana

We would like to use our DVC points for the Holland America Alaska cruise in summer 2004. We have a few DCL scheduled for 2003 already and if we wait til 2004, Michael will be 9 and maybe more interested in it.

Dancind - haven't seen anything posted for 2004, just looking through the DVC book and thought "hey, why not?!" It is a DVC Adventure Collection as Horace Horsecollar said, but on Holland America.

To all the others who answered about the points - THANKS!

Too many choices, folks! Not enough time or money!!

Happy sailing!
Rae
