Onboard booking question

We have an upcoming cruise on the Fantasy in mid-April and are also considering an Alaska cruise for summer of 2017 (assuming Disney does Alaska in 2017).

I understand summer of 2017 is going to open any day now (possibly the beginning of next week).

So would we be better off to book Alaska as soon as we can or wait until our cruise in April to book onboard?

FWIW, for us, the amount of the deposit is not as much of an issue as the overall cruise price. Along those lines, Mousesavers seems to indicate that if we were, for example, to book next week, we could still possibly "re-shop" onboard and then have the option of picking the better deal. Just want to confirm if this is true (as my main concern is blocking ourselves out of a potentially better onboard booking deal if we were to book next week).

The recommendation is always to book as soon as available and then re-shop it on board. If the fare hasn't increased considerably, you can take the onboard deal. It is possible for the fare to increase more than the 10% discount plus the OBC, in which case you keep the original booking.

Enjoy your cruises!
