Onboard Booking Credit

At one time, DCL made an exception for B2B cruises allowed to be booked as an OBB. To my knowledge, that exception is no longer an option. Each leg of a B2B is considered 1 cruise, and since you can only book 1 cruise date for an OBB you cannot book multiple legs for a B2B with benefits on both legs. That's if booking a set date while onboard. I've read mixed reports about using 2 placeholders but haven't tried it myself.

Enjoy your cruise!

The OBC is no longer tiered according to CC level? I guess I hadn't paid attention since the change.

Thanks. This statement was on the confirmation email, but there was no dollar amount listed:

"Onboard Booking: Includes a non-refundable, non-transferable stateroom onboard credit. Guests must sail
within 24 months after the date the original booking was made onboard. Block out dates for this offer
apply."

This is what my email said when I booked a placeholder on the Fantasy in May:

"Travel must take place within 24 months of reservation to maintain booking benefits. Blackout dates apply to the Onboard Rebooking Offer, please inquire when booking a confirmed date or contact Disney Cruise Line or your travel agent for more details. Onboard credits, per stateroom, will vary based on sailing. $100 for sailing of 6-nights or less and $200 for sailings 7-nights and greater. Cannot be combined with any other offer or discount. Not valid on VGT, OGT, or IGT stateroom categories with restrictions or 2-night sailings."

Oh, not for several years now! That might have changed back in 2011 or 2012. Now the OBC is based on length of cruise -- $200 for cruises of 7+ nights and $100 for shorter cruises.

Enjoy your cruise!

Hi all,

After reading all the information on this thread, I find myself still a little confused. Seeing as I am cruising this summer, I am looking to book onboard for summer 2018. Is each adult on the current stateroom reservation entitled to an OBB? So if I book a cruise for 2018, would the other adult in my stateroom be able to book a different OBB date? Or could we each book a placeholder (presumably for 2 different future cruises, perhaps a B2B?).

Each separate home address may book up to 2 rooms (or placeholders) on the same future cruise. If there are two adults in one room, each residing at a different home address, then they can book 4 rooms maximum between them.

If both adults live at the same address, only 2 rooms, or placeholders, on the same future cruise may be booked.

You can book additional rooms/placeholders on the same cruise, or a different cruise, but they will not get the onboard booking benefits.

Just wondering if you could further clarify how this works. We took our first cruise if February, family of 5 in one stateroom. We ended up booking a placeholder while onboard (I filled out one of the "OBB cards" for lack of a better phrase) and I had named DU as our travel agent so had an email waiting from them when we returned -as well as the booking charge on my CC. However, when I inquired about booking 2 staterooms, the agent said I'd only receive the 10% discount on one of the rooms. What should I have done differently in the process in order to have booked 2 discounted staterooms ? Would my dh have had to fill out a separate request?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!

-Kelly ☺️

If you wanted 2 staterooms, you would have needed to make 2 placeholder reservations for a total deposit of $500. They would need to be used on the same future cruise within 24 months. I think you could have made both placeholder reservations without having you and your husband each making one. I don't think I've ever used the form to request. I've always just talked to the future cruise CM to make reservations. Some CMs seem more flexible than others. On one B2B cruise with just my wife and I we wanted to book a total of 5 staterooms for a family cruise. We were able to book 2 placeholders with full benefits on the first leg of the B2B and then 2 more placeholders with full benefits and a 3rd with just the OBC on the second leg. My wife and I were on just one of the placeholders. All of the others were for family members not cruising that time. When the cruise date we wanted for that was released, or TA converted all 5 placeholders to the specific date. My wife and I were on another cruise before the family cruise and re-shopped the 5th room. I was hoping I could book just that one stateroom, but the CM insisted that either my wife or I had to be a reservation as well, so we booked 2 and let our TA straighten it out after the cruise.

Is the $200 for 7+ nights, 10% down and 10% off still working (does it have an end date)?
Yes, it still is working but you have to sail within 24 months of the date of your OBB (i.e. On Oct 26, 2016 I booked a cruise for Jan. 21, 2018. However, if I want to with itineraries, I have until Oct. 26, 2018 to sail on another itinerary).

You have 24 months to START your next cruise, right? You don't have to have completed it within 24 months?

Looking forward to booking some placeholders on our upcoming B2B in a few weeks!

We put down a placeholder for one room and paid the $250 before I knew 2 rooms was an option. Probably too late to add a room at this point right?

If you are on the ship, maybe not.

If you are off the ship, you are out of luck.

How far out can you book a placeholder?

A "placeholder" doesn't actually have a date attached. It is good for a cruise that starts within 24 months from the date purchased.

Enjoy your cruise!

Just when I thought I have this placeholder thing down, then I read something that differs from what I have in mind. So, if I were to make 2 placeholders on a cruise, both placeholders must be used on the same future cruise? Now, as far as eligibility for booking a placeholder is concerned, I understand that two adults cruising in the same stateroom, but living at different addresses can each book their own placeholder, how are those addresses verified (ie: show ID)? Is possible to get around that by giving a different (but legitimate) address?
