Hi all

I am approaching our 180 ADR mark. My ds wants a "boy character meal" since we are doing all that princess stuff for his sister ;) I was thinking of going to the Tusker House breakfast at AK. I was hoping to get an 8:00 ADR on a day when the park opens at 9 am. I would like to be done eating by 9 so that we can go right to the safari ride. Has anyone eaten breakfast there that can comment on my plan? Would we most likely be done by 9 with an 8 ADR? I am a newbie to WDW, so any input would be great!

I believe you can easily be out of there by 9:00 with an 8:00 ADR. We did this breakfast last year and my kids loved it. Enjoy your safari!

I think that will work. I've done it twice and loved it. I think both times we were done in about an hour.

It should work fine. We had a 830 ADR and only missed it by 10 minutes or so. The wait for the safari ride was basically the amount of time it takes to get back to the actual ride and waiting about 2-3 minutes from there.

If you can't make RD, send someone for a FP for the safari ride. Then you can ride it with a short wait and/or use the FP for later in the day if you would like to ride twice.

We love Tusker House. It's our favorite character breakfast.

I think it can be done. To speed things up you can request your bill when you are seated, rather than wait until after you're done eating.

Also the entrance to the Safari ride is very close to Tusker House.

I don't know if it can be done...BUT

if you can't the ressie you want (probably a lot of people want the ressie before the park opens)...I found that a later breakfast works for us also. We grab a snack, get to the park at rope drop, ride the Safari-maybe grab a fast pass, and then it is time to wait for our ADR. Then we eat. Then as soon as we are done eating, we can make use of our fast passes we got earlier.

Bonus is that we are not hungry for lunch at all! (We almost werent hungry for dinner when we did this-we had breakfast at Tusker house at 10 am and then dinner at Ohana at 5 pm, but we managed :rotfl:)

But if all else fails and you are not finishing fast enough even if you get your 8 am ADR, someone can be a runner and go get fast passes for the Safari :)

We did this when we went. It's buffet, so you can stuff yourself. The kids found lots of stuff they like to eat. Plus they can ride rides in the AM on a slightly empty stomach, rather than a full belly if you get my drift.

The one thing I noticed was the characters were out in about 12 - 15 minute rotation, so if you wait for all of them to come to your table, it could take more than an hour. It may be different earlier in the day, but we ate about 10 or 10:30 and it took what seemed like a long time. I wanted my pic with Daisy Duck and we had to wade through a bunch of characters to get her, since she had just been out right before we came in.

Rather than feeling rushed to finish breakfast, I'd rather ride a few rides on an empty stomach, grab some fast passes, eat and enjoy the experience, then ride my fast passes grabbing another one on the way. But that's just me....

Oh yeah...BTW.... Tusker House is a good character experience for boys. My DS was 9 and he enjoyed it. DD was 6 and loved it too....

It's definitely possible to be done eating in an hour since it's a buffet...you don't have to wait for the food to be served for you. Heck, my whole family could be in and out of a buffet in 15 minutes flat ;) However, it's the characters that hold you up. I don't know if there are 2 different rooms at Tusker House but the room that we were in (walk in the door, go to the right - that area is kind of broken up into 2 sections with a half-wall between them) we were the LAST table for the characters to get to. We were all done eating before the first character even got to us. The characters came into the room, visited the first few tables by the doorway then went left into the other section of the room and made their way around that entire section (probably took them about 1/2 hour to compelte that room), then came back out to the main room where we were seated. I know it's hard to picture what I'm talking about unless you've been there already. Our ressie was 8:00 a.m. and we probably got out of there about 9:15.

It is my Favorite Character Meal on property. I am so sad that I can't get in on May 9th at any time. I try about 3 times a day. DH said we can just go and try then if I don't get a ressie.
We have done both the 8:05 with RD and a 9:45 after we ride EE and get FP for the safari.

We have an 8:00 ADR for a 9:00 opening too in hopes that we'll be out by RD. Since it's buffet I think we'll be fine! Hope you get what you want.:)

We were there last week and had one person go get FPs for the Safari before we had our photo with Donald at Tusker House. It worked out perfectly time-wise and there were lots of animals out since it was so early and fabulous weather! :thumbsup2

Tusker House is by far one of my favorite breakfasts and you are doing it the right way. HAVE FUN

You could probably do this. It will depend on a couple of factors, one how quickly you are seated and two the speed of the characters. If you aren't out by 9:00, you will be done shortly thereafter.

We have done this before at Crystal Palace and the castle and it worked for us, but we haven't tried it at Tusker House yet.

We did it exactly as you are planning and it worked out perfectly. We had an 8am, we ate, we met the characters and we were out and in line for one of the first safaris of the day. Awesome. :)

For the record, we did the same exact thing at Crystal Palace and Hollywood & Vine and every time we were out by 9.

The day we are planning Tusker House breakfast is an early extra magic hours day. We plan on getting there at RD (8am) and going straight to the Safari Ride. Should we make ADR at Tuskers for 9am or 9:30am? Will we have enough time to walk all the way to the Safari, ride it, and then get back to Tusker's by 9am?? :confused3

Thanks for all of the replies. My kids can't wait for the trip! The hardest part for me will be getting up at 3 am to log onto the computer for my ADRs. ;)

TH is pretty close to the safari, they're both in the back of the park. I believe the safari is approx. 20-25 minutes long (someone here will know better).

Should be plenty of time but not a guarantee.

Two years ago we had reservations for 9:50 and weren't seated until 10:40. Then they started putting the food away before we were done eating!

Last year though we made reservations for 8:10 and were out in time for park opening. Request your bill when you are seated. Sometimes you can wait 10 minutes just for them to bring you the bill once you are done eating.

The earlier the reservations, the better off you are.
