On the Road Hotel

we are driving from Chicago to WDW. We plan on leaving between 12:00-1:00 in the afternoon. I know it takes about 12 hours to get to Atlanta, but that would be well after midnight when we get there. Where would be a good place to stop a couple hours north of Atlanta? If we do happen to make it as far as Atlanta, where is a good place to stop south of the city?

You could try: i75exitguide.com and this will tell you (select Georgia) what hotels, restaurants, fastfood, etc. are at each exit. It will also list construction sites Staying north or south of Atlanta will probably just depend on what time of day you get to the Atlanta area. Stay off the bypass and take I-75 straight thru if its not rush hour.

Hi, I just wanted to say have a fun safe trip!

We live in Northern IL and always stopped in Chattanooga when we drove. It seemed about 1/2 way.

We don't do the drive anymore as my kids are older and can't miss that much school. The drive was part of our fun! We kind of miss it.

I don't remember specifically where in Chattanooga we stayed, it varied. We would just pull over wherever. The mornings were beautiful leaving Chattanooga to head south with the mist over the mountains and the gorgeous drive into GA thru the rolling mountains.

Since i posted I was talking some more with DH and now we are looking at leaving by 8 AM (I was originally goinhg to have my ds go to school for half the day). So this will give us time to get south of Atlanta on our first day

Has anyone stayed at the Country Inn in Morrow?

I would definitely get through Atlanta after rush hour. We always stay in Hampton Inns. We have always had very good luck with them, very clean, very nice, reasonable price and free cont. breakfast. There are several of them along the way.
