On the Lighter Side: What is the oddest carry-on

Stephen Colbert's "Formula 401"

(At least that's what he says is in his carryon) :rotfl2:

I took my gerbils as carry-on, in a little cage with a handle. Hey, I was twelve, we were moving, I didn't know how else to transport the little guys!

On a trip from Spain to Mexico, this guy that had frozen bull´s sperm to inseminate some cows to make "toros de lidia" (the kind used in bullfights).

My Aunt, and Grandmother brought four Coconut Monkey Banks from Hawaii.

They cracked up the security screeners. :rotfl2:

A few more second hand ones:

A whole Vash the Stampede costume
snowboards
Parrot hats(I think these were from a concert)
Hats in the shape of cheese

I think my personal oddest was a box of Krispie Kreme donuts. I did not realize donuts would make people so happy. Everyone was my friend and greeted me with a smile! :lmao: But I saved them all for the friends I was visiting.
I bet I could have sold them on the plane and made a tidy profit! :goodvibes :rotfl2:

Well, it didn't make it on as carry on but 20 years ago I tried to take a prop Star Trek phaser with me ... it was just a block of wood (no electronics). LOL

I took it out at security before it went through the x-ray (so as not to freak them out). ahahaha...they told me I had to check it....so they walked with me to the gate so we could box it up. As we walked to the gate, the security guys were playing with it...ie, shooting at all the passengers and making Star Trek references. :rotfl2: It was a different era. <sigh>

I was once on a plane where a woman had carried on what she claimed was an antique pottery bowl. It got stuck in the overhead and security had to drag her off the plane so maintenance could braek the bowl and get it out. (SHe wanted AA to take the entire overhead apart which they weren't going to do)

Years ago a friend had to take an internal flight in Africa for a business trip to Gabon. There were chickens on the plane, and cats that roamed freely and jumped from seatback to seatback the entire flight.

Gee... mine seems so ordinary now. TSA screeners were amused by it, though. I had a trophy in the shape of a bare foot. (It was the "best peasant" award from Monty Python's Spamalot.)

Last year, I brought a "Tickle-Me-Freud" in carryon, but apparently he didn't look unusual to TSA.

Can you imagine someone that is allergic to cats on that flight?? :rolleyes1
I love animals and would've loved to have a cat come sit on my lap...but my brother in law would need medical help with his allergies!!!

Believe it or not, I've also seen the pinatas, Krispy Kremes, and even the bull semen. The bull semen one was so funny because the man was sitting next to DS, who kept trying to ask him a million questions. Finally, the man told me quietly what he did for a living (sell bull sperm) and what he had with him, and he asked me what to tell DS. The funniest one I had was a huge dried flower arrangement, in a basket, that I'd bought at a country fair. Fortunately, no one sat next to me, so the basket had it's own seat.

When I flew solo to WDW a few years back the woman in the row across from me claimed to be taking her mother's ashes to Florida in her carry-on. :confused3

And many, many years ago (1973 or so) I brought a blunt Spanish style sword in a box back from Denver for DH. Security inspected the box and taped it up for me to take on the plane.
