Just curious

Is there a reason there is not an on-site full service restaurant at HH? I have just been reading other threads about Chef Gordon and such and it made me wonder.

Is there not room for it, not enough demand for it because of when people travel there, etc.

Do you think there ever will be one? Like Shutters at VB.

Any info is appreciated:D

I apologize in advance if this has been posted and addressed before.

No, I don't think there will ever be a restaurant on the DVC property. DVC did not build one because there are 6 or 7 right across the bridge in the Shelter Cove Marina complex. The first of these is about 100 yards from the check-in area. Some of these restaurants are very good. DVC HH did not need a restaurant with so many close to the property on Hilton Head Island.

DVC VB did not have a restaurant within miles. Thus Shutters and another were made available.

I was told on my recent trip there by a CM, when Disney bought the property to build, one condition of sale was that Disney not have an on site restaurant, that Disney would bring business to the restaurants in Shelter Cove.

Great point, there are plenty of restaraunts nearby that might as well be onsite gven how close they are. They are probably as close as Boardwalk restaraunts are to the Boardwalk resort.

Something I don't hear much about that HH has is the ability to dock your boat near the resort. That would seem to be a great perk of the resort.

Most restaurants in hotels lose money, given the limited space it's more profitable to use the space for more units, that make money. I think there are a number of other reasons as well. The units mostly have cooking facilities, there are a large number of nearby restaurants and it's not a big development to start with, they would be three reasons all of which would decrease the number of visitors that would use an on site restaurant ( obviously decreasing the viability of such a restaurant).
With a company like Disney, I doubt that any condition (as mentioned) would hold them up if they wanted to build a restaurant, but I can see that it would be a nice excuse to bring out if it that was in your mind not to have a full restaurant there.

No I don't think there will ever by a full service restaurant there.
