On-site or off-site?

What are your thoughts for onsite vs offsite during a busy time like Spring Break?

I've done both President's Week and peak July. Once was offsite, once was on. In both cases, we skipped EMHs and just did regular parks hours, and had plenty of time to do everything we wanted to do. I prefer getting my Extra Magical Hour of Sleep.

That said, it really depends on the kind of trip you want. With two people, the extra space offsite might not matter that much. Also, I would not personally count on eating a lot of meals (except for breakfast) in your unit. We have *maybe* 1-2 other meals in ours, and we *always* stay somewhere with a full kitchen.

It is a tough decision... Right now I'm leaning towards off-site.. I can get a condo for $100 a night with 2 bedrooms! We can eat breakfast in the condo and have water/snacks, etc... Plus I like having my own car and coming/going when I want. I think the madness of waiting on the busses during Spring Break will not make for a nice vacation (I'm not the most patient person )

I've stayed onsite and offsite and I have never had a trip that I did not enjoy!

We were just down the week before Easter this year and stayed offsite at Bonnet Creek. This resort is really like being onsite except you don't have the EMH. It is right next door to the Caribbean Beach Resort and extremely easy to get in/out of. In fact, we did return to our room almost every day to hang out in the pool etc. and recharge before going back to the parks at night.

I think it all comes down to what experience you want to have. There are places onsite that could acommodate your needs with a bedroom etc.

I've used Disney transportation only and been okay with it, but I also dont' mind driving my own car and having that flexibility.

No matter what you decide in the end, you are going to have an awesome trip!

We have stayed on and off resort and much prefer on resort as it gives you that DISNEY FEELING! I love the fact that you can just immerse yourself and not have to think about or touch the outside world while you are there. There are, off course, pro's and cons to both and only you can decide what you want from a vacation. I like it that I can just hop on disney transportation that drops you right outside the gates at the parks and not have to catch a tram to find my hot car in the lot somewhere. Enjoy whatever you decide.

spring is a wonderful time to go to Disney and as long as you are NOT going Palm or Easter week - then you should be fine offsite.

with Palm or easter week they sometimes will close the park. because the parking lot get full. if you are staying onsite you can ride the bus to the parks.

if you are not going those weeks - stay offsite. hey you need to experience both just so you can make up your own mind.

the traffic can be worst during a busy time - and spring break is busy.
