On-site/Off-sight Cost Comparison

I'm thinking about staying off-site at the Waldorf Astoria using Hilton points. I'm trying to compare costs to see whether it is worth it.

The hotel has a daily $30 resort fee.

I will have to pay for hotel-airport round-trip transportation. It appears to be approx $160 plus tip for round-trip car service.

I will have to buy magic bands for $20/each.

What other built-in expenses are included in staying in a Disney resort? I want to do a true cost-analysis.

Thanks helping me with anything I'm missing.

You don't need a magic band. The plastic tickets work the exact same way. You may need to consider the transportation to/from the parks. How often to the Waldorf's buses run? What if you want to leave at a different time? You'd have to use a taxi.

Just fyi..... you do not have to purchase magic bands. Your park tickets will work just fine without them.

Since you're considering staying at the Waldorf, you need to compare the cost of staying at a Disney deluxe resort, which are pretty expensive, even with discounts. Even with the daily resort fee and transportation to/from the airport, I would have to believe it would be much cheaper to stay at the Waldorf on points.

How do you get to the parks? Drive? You need to include parking at $20/day

If your to/from airport fees are $160 you could rent a car for a week for that amount (or less). That might help with the bus schedules, although you'd then need to add parking fees into your decision if you drive to parks.

I should have mentioned that Hilton Bonnet Creek and the Waldorf share a scheduled shuttle bus to the parks and TTC.
Which is great if you can manage to plan your days to use them. Make sure to consider the schedule for the shuttles.

Do you have a copy of that bus schedule? While we haven't stayed in the upscale offsite places, many will offer one or two shuttles in the morning, sometimes just to the TTC since you can hook up from there to anywhere. Or, others will offer one to the TTC earlier in the morning and then again a bit after Magic Kingdom opens and then another shuttle to Epcot in between. From the places I've stayed, again, not upscale, there are no afternoon return to the hotel options and only evening options, again 1-3 choices from various places, usually Magic Kingdom/TTC or Epcot. So, please get a copy of the current bus schedule and see if the times and locations fit into your plans.
