On-site hotel question....

I have a question about charging to your room when staying on-site...specifically at the Grand. Can you charge to your room from anywhere within the DLR or is it only if you eat in the restaurants that are actually in your hotel? I can't find any information on this and I really think the CM's are sick of talking to me. :upsidedow I feel like I call every day with a new question.

Like, if we eat at the Plaza Inn for Minnie's Breakfast or say, Blue Bayou, can that be charged to our room? It doesn't really matter whether we pay for it upfront or upon check-out, I was just curious as it might be easier to just pay for everything all at once at the end.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can have that charged to your room if you have a credit card on file. You can just charge about anything in the park and most restaurants. I say most because I don't think you can charge items to your room from Downtown Disney. When you check in, the front desk will give you a slip to give to the cashiers once you are ready to pay.

Yes...we have stayed at GCH before and that was one of the perks ... charging just about anything you buy in the park to your GCH account. As I recall, when you checkin the clerks are instructed to communicate that to you so that you know it is available.

As I recall, when you do that at souvenir shops inside the Parks they will ask you if you want them to have your items delivered directly to your room so you don't have to carry them around. That's another nice perk. Not sure if they offer that at DLH or PP, but they might.

Thanks for the information, everyone. So, can you tell me if they charge your card each time you make a transaction or do they just apply it all to your room and you pay for it all at the end on checkout? The only time I've ever charged anything to a hotel room is when I've ordered room service so I'm not entirely sure how this whole thing works. :confused3

We'll definitely have a credit card on file (don't you *have* to give them a credit card on check-in...even if your room is already paid for????) and I was just thinking it would be so easy to charge everything we could to the room and then pay for it all at the end.

Thanks again for your help!

12 days and counting........

We stayed at PP in September.

They do one charge at the end.

They will give you a flimsy slip of paper; it's white with your stay's information on it, and that is THE charge slip. That's also the paper that gets you in to every MM offered during your stay. You'll have your ticket, your room key, and that all-important slip of paper (it's not all combined like at WDW).

We did not have any luck in having things sent to our room, b/c every time we tried, the store was "out" of the papers they needed to fill out. Told me to go to some other store. Well, the point of it was so the bag was "out of sight out of mind" for our 3 year old, and carrying the bag to another store to have it done took away the whole point of it, so we were never able to do it. Had nothing to do with PP, though, just had to do with the paperwork problems.

And by the way, the packages are not delivered that day, they are delivered some time in the morning of the NEXT day.

Thanks, Molly! We actually always stay at the Grand so I know what paper you're talking about, I've just never been smart enough to think about charging to the room. I always think of charging to a room as just room service, KWIM? So, do you know....do they "preauthorize" your card for a certain amount and then adjust the charges at the end? Not that it really matters one way or the other, I just wondered how it works. It seems that you could accrue a lot more charges than if you were just charging room service. I don't want some huge preauthorized amount on my card in the event we don't use it. I think I'm making this more complicated than I need to, huh?

Well I'm not the person to ask about this, b/c we almost NEVER see the pre-charges on our card, even though we have a bank card. Not even on our cruise did we see the hefty "hold" they supposedly "always" put on a debit card (RCCL).

So I don't know about that.

When we stayed at PP last year, they did not pre-authorize a certain amount, we just used it and each charge went on the card with in a few days where ever we used it. It is not the same as WDW where they st your limit depending on what level of resort you stay at and once you or if y ou reach that amount they charge your card and start you over. Then at the end of your trip you receive a print out of the total charges charged at once. DLR charged all of mine as different charges at the few places we use it.
