Just got back from a great stay at OKW. This is not my home. I own at BWV & WLV. However, it is the home of one of my roommates. One of the reasons she and her husband bought there was the fact that you can park near your room.

We had a cab from a semi-truck in our lot taking up 3 spaces and in the lot next door (where some other friends were staying) there was a RV taking up 4 parking spaces. To all of us this is a problem since if we can't find a parking space near our unit, we're parking in the next lot which pushes cars who should be parking there to another lot, and so on.

When we checked in we were asked if we had a car. Maybe the question should be what kind of vehicle do you have? I looked in the manual and couldn't find anything on oversize vehicles. Are there any rules? If there are, why aren't they being enforced?

Turned out that I got back to the room first (dropped off by friends one of whom is handicapped and there was no place to park) so I called and complained. A bit later, my roommates drove back to the Hospitality House when they could not find a parking space and complained. We were both told there was nothing that could be done. The guard shack is supposed to give over-size vehicles a paper which tells them where they are to park and OKW provides transportation from there. Apparently this was not done.

I realize these people may be paying dues just as we do but does that entitle them to take up extra spaces? I also realize that a unit may have more than one car associated with it and no one would complain.

Just wanted to get a few thoughts here.

Thanks

Cyn

Recently we were at OKW and had brought a 10 ft. covered utility trailer with us. I asked about parking at the front desk and they sent us to Port Orleans to store the trailer for the week. There were several campers, semis, and motor homes parked there.

These types of vehicles are specifically prohibited from parking at OKW. Unfortunately, I've also seen them from time to time in the lots. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was the "cover" provided by an RV that allowed folks to steal the plates off our rental car several years ago. You certainly are within your rights to ask them to enforce the parking policy if it is making parking difficult at your unit.
