As the rates keep going down, I keep rebooking my reservation to get the lower rate. What I do, is book the new rate with my Emerald card # and codes, and then I go back and cancel the previous reservation using that # as the reservation to cancel. Is this correct? In other words, for a brief moment, I would have to exact reservations with my emerald card # until I go back in and cancel the previous one. I don't want to cancel first, in case for some reason the rate would go up. I am not going to end up with three reservations am I? When I go in to cancel the previous one, and I hit cancel, it says that reservation # is cancelled and shows me the previous quote so I think I am correct. I hope you can understand my ? Thanks!

You are doing it correctly. You can always double check by entering the cancelled number and seeing what it says.

you could also use the modify feature on national car website, it used to be "glitchy" ( new rates were quoted )

but, a lot of posts about modifying reservations has been positive
this way you keep the original confirmation #, along with getting the new "lower" rate if it is available

they do show you the original confirmation quote and modified confirmation quote before you have to accept the change, thus if something was not "right" you could opt not to modify

Thank you for the help. Once again the DIS board has come through!

I cancelled reservations 4 times on my last trip, it went from $197 down to $118. I always make a screen print of the cancellation confirmation and keep it with the cancelled reservation until the trip is over. Just in case they try to charge me for a no show on one of the cancelled reservations (it's never happened).
