Can someone tell me where on WDW you can get a rental car. I know that National rents out of the Dolphin. But do any other car rental companies rent from the Dolphin or any anywhere else on property? Thanks for you help.

We rented from National at the car care center at entrance to MK. We wished we'd just rented from someone else. They automatically upgraded our vehicle, which we didn't want and didn't have any serviced for the one we did want. We had to take this car that was dirty, plus it vibrated horribly. I also had tried to sign up for Emerald Club prior to our trip. The site was down so I called their hotline. The lady told me it was being fixed and that I could sign up for the club free when I picked up the car. We wanted to do that so we didn't have to pay for a second driver. I was told at the counter it'd be a $50 fee to sign up but free on the web site. The counter lady was really really grumpy. She was grumpy the day we rented and seven days later when we returned. We told her the car was dirty and had a serious vibration problem and she didn't even look at us or say anything. I'd never rent from there again! I plan on following up with a letter to the company. I'd heard many good things about National so maybe we were a one time deal, just didn't seem so. Good luck renting!

Here is what I have: It is my understanding is that they will come and pick you up.

National - Exxon Station - outside Magic Kingdom
Dolphin

Avis - Hilton

Budget - Doubletree

Dollar - Courtyard by Marriott

Alamo - Wyndham

Thrifty - Grosvenor

All of these hotels are by Downtown Disney

Hope this helps.

Don't be too sure about the Dolphin. I believe that not too long ago there was a thread saying that operation had been closed.

Hi - I'm just back and this was my experience. We rented a car from the Dolphin on 11/16. The National rental counter at the Dolphin was open, but all of the cars are being held at the Car Care center over by the Magic Kingdom. I had reserved a full sized car, but they didn't have one available. We were upgraded to a minivan - which was ok with us.. The lady at the National counter did all my paperwork and then told me to go and wait in front of the Dolphin for a shuttle van to go and pick up the rental.

we waited
and we waited
and we waited
about 1/2 an hour of waiting......

during this time 2 shuttle vans from Dollar Rental car and one from Payless showed up and picked up people to take them to their rentals. I'm not sure where their lots are.....

Finally our shuttle showed up --- and this was the part that really made me angry. The driver had a tip cup up there in his cup holder stuffed with ones and fives. So apparently now I'm supposed to pay the driver to take me over to my rental.....Now this was at the end of my vacation and I was very tired and grouchy and perhaps overreacting, but it did make me angry. There were 3 couples in our shuttle, and ours was the only rental that was actually in the promised space. The other couples had to go into the Car Care center to work things out.

All in all - the whole thing took about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
