Seriously could not even make my life up at the moment.

After possibly missing out on our trip due to my serious leg injury back in feb we had some good news from the surgeon that made me feel confident enough to go ahead with planning and our original travel dates .

I had a phone Call last Friday 17th june from my sons school and following a trip to hospital came home with a small boy with a foot broken in 3 places , a non weight bearing cast for 6 to 8 week !! crutches and a wheelchair.

Think its time to stop hoping and give up on 2016 trip

I know it's hard to think at the moment but everything happens for a reason. Maybe you are just not meant to go away in August. (Was it August?)

Can you postpone it until October or later in the year?

Sorry to hear this - I hope you manage to get everything rebooked. Is it definite that he will be non weight bearing for the whole time? I only ask because just before Christmas my eldest daughter broke her ankle doing gymnastics. Initially she was told that she would be non weight bearing the whole time she was in plaster, then she was told that she might be able to have a walking cast in a few weeks and she ended up in a walking cast only 6 days after her surgery.

this is positive thankyou, he has fracture clinic on tuesday so will see what they have to say , it would be much easier on him if he can weight bear.

yes August 25th, im trying to get a hold of the lady who helped me last week and booked us the extra leg room seats and see what option we have for changing it . At least if we delay until the October i will also be out of the metal leg cage for sure !! kids will miss a lot of school days , but the year we have had im past caring

Yes, I agree. If you can go in October go for it. Life's too short and can throw anything at you ( as you know ) so go whilst you can. My daughter is having a full 2 weeks off in November.

Very ,Very sorry to hear of your sons injury, Hope he is well soon. Oct is a bit Hot but not like August. I live in the heat and I can not stand to go in August at Disney and i assume that is your destination. October is a good time to go to Disney world. We go every year for a short trip. Hope your son is well soon and I say go for it.

So the update is

We have canceled and rebooked 13oct to 6th nov are our new dates!!

Not had the best news at my hospital appointment so really feel we made the best decision. However now I'm all confused about planning so many things are within our dates Halloween ,food and fine etc. not having both Disney waterparks!!

Luckily I have lots of time on my hands but the to do list seems to have doubled for the new dates and this was originally to be a beach more than theme park trip now it's looking like its theme park crazy

I'm glad you was able to re-book I know how you feel though, I got the news yesterday that my head surgery ( another one) is July 29th but I need wisdom tooth removal Monday due to an infection in the damn tooth, ans as my air ways need rmto be clear and no infection present OT could push my surgery back, we're already currently going September 22nd! So OT would be cutting it fine for recovery.
I'm lost as I've booked all my adrs etc lol.

It is ON!! so the son had his cast off a few week ago. I have purchased a insanely expensive insurance policy to travel with my broken leg. We are flying on 13th october (yes im crying that we dont leave in 3days as per the original plan ) but we get to do halloween !!! Even committed and booked our first 2nights accommodation. Springhill suites south at Miami airport, we had hooked flights in to Miami as they saved us £1000+on flying in to Orlando. Planning on chilling at the Miami hotel, not sure how my leg will feel after the confinement of flying but hoping we can venture out and have a walk round coral gables and eldest son wants to car spot down on south beach

I have then booked 30th -5th nov at a beach front motel in treasure island

Great news for you all. How is everyone feeling? Hope all the legs are doing well!!!

DH is weight bearing on the left leg as of last week so he has crutches to get around the house now. Still uses the wheelchair when we are out. Working with physio to get the strength back.
He goes back in 2 weeks to see about the other foot and hopefully will be weight bearing too. We asked about the possibility of going back to work in December but they weren't very optimistic

Not long for you now. Sounds a great trip. wish it was still me going in October but at least I've got may to look forward to.

My next appointment is 1st sept . Will hopefully find out if they will be taking the cage off before we fly. But I have got lots more mobile now on it , can walk about 7km without my crutches , so I feel confident to go with it on .

At the moment I hate getting wet as it softens and aggravates all the pins so the biggest bonus of it coming off will be been able to swim and get wet. I need just a leg poncho lol.

This great your hubby is weight bearing, he will feel a bit more independent.i hated the wheelchair!! I'm past 6month since my accident now.

We have the 2nights in miami , and hoping to book a 5night cruise out of Miami so I can have some rest and relaxation before we do the parks
