On my way to try full version Design Studio

BFF got her Design Studio in yesterday's mail, so I am heading there shortly to give it a whirl. We'll only have about an hour to play (have to get DD#1 at bball practice), but I will post a report later today about the experience.

FWIW, at the moment, BFF isn't too impressed with it. She thought there would be a lot more design flexibility with it, so we'll see. I hope it's just that she hasn't read the whole instruction manual yet and that it's better than it seems right now.

I didn't like it. I don't think it is very user friendly. The manual is pretty slim, and it doesn't answer a lot of questions.

It looks like it will have a big learning curve, and I don't have time for that right now. I'm really disappointed, but glad I didn't spend the money on it.

I'm hoping that once people use it that there will be some online tutorials. I cut one thing last night, and I'm cutting some welded "Get Well Soon" sayings at the moment.

It's not the most intuitive piece of software, the lack of an easy way to shadow your designs is a real drawback.

One thing that is taking a bit to get used to, is that when it cuts a new design, the blade carriage doesn't move smoothly, and seems to go really slow. Also, with the new firmware, when you hit the arrow keys on the small bug, even when you aren't using the software, the carriage moves in 1/8" increments instead of the 1/2". I like this, although I wasn't prepared for it the first time.
