Awesome! This should be interesting to see if/how it works. Now if only we could actually reserve DVC villas online too!

everyone - well, at least everyone staying at property, I'm not sure if it is for people off property or not. Wasn't told that, didn't think to ask.

So will I be able to go into the system at 5 minutes after midnight 90 days before check-in and get breakfast at Cindy's, or will I have to wait until 6 am Central time? Hopefully online reservations will work better than some of the other IT "improvements" they've put in.

It will be interesting to see how it works. If you have to submit your requests and then wait a day to see if they could fit you in the time you wanted to eat, it may still be better to call and know the answer instantly.

Next Disney System Crash schedule for 5/11/09

:)

Well, if it's gonna break we might as well get it set up to hammer it first thing Monday morning ... linky? :rotfl:

actually - I assume we'd go in through dvcmember website, click on the reservation and off of there pull up dining reservations. Hm... it'll be cool to see what I have set up already showing in the system. Little things like that make me so happy :)

I think it is www.mydisneyvacation.com, which resolves to a *.go.com* address; I don't know if there will be a separate way for us to reserve as dvc.

Yes, and since they probably won't have the systems configured to play nice with each other (like happened some time ago when they had the promotion on the main Disney site to win a vacation:sad2:), some gremlin will simultaneously delete your reservation, tell you that you can't log in to the dining resssie system and then prompt you to setup a new login ID and PW which, once done, will of course erase your member website credentials.

Your next week will be spent trying to A) break through the log jam of other members phoning in to member services with the identical problem and B) trying to get your login fixed and your ressie restored (which would of course already filled someone's WL request).:sick:

Not that I lack confidence in their IT capabilities or anything!;)

This system, if true, is just a crash waiting to happen. The crash will occur at 7:00 am every day, will take all day to fix, and will recur at 7:00 am the next day. I would rather keep some CMs employed and use the phone.

Why would an online system crash? How many CMs work at the call centers? Probably not more than 1000 at any one time (correct me if you know the real number :)). Network servers should or would be able to handle 5,000 requests at any one time. Also, they would be drawing from the same inventories the CMs see, would they not? So theoretically, if it crashes online, it should prevent the ability the call centers have to book as well.

I think Disney has done a good job upgrading their website. It's much better than it was a year ago so long as you have a good, fast, stable connection.

Really, really? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Maybe it is better than it was a year ago, but it's still pretty terrible. For a media company, Disney really falls short with its websites.

As long as the Disney website doesn't cause an overwhelming crash of the AT&T backbone & effect my websites I'm good with it. :thumbsup2 Actually, I'm not on pager next week so they can have at that too... could be pretty entertaining :rotfl:
