OK..... I TOTALLY know that we talked about this a couple weeks ago with the New York Institute of Photography, but I didn't want to hi-jack the other poster's thread. So now I have a similar question: has anyone had any luck or heard anything good/bad out there about OTHER on-line courses? :confused3 The reason I ask is because I ordered the brochures from NYIP and when you're talking about almost $1000 for the courses, it gets a little steep. I know there were mentionings of other courses from consumer websites but I was REALLY wanting to look into this. Unfortunately the only courses my local university offers is in photoJOURNALISM, and not really what I was looking for. My only other option is to maybe volunteer or look for part-time help with local photographers. Thanks for the help!!!! :thumbsup2

If you have sent away for the NYIP information, just wait..... then you get another mailing for less $$. Then wait.... it will get less and less. I think I got in for something like $550.

adorama often sends me emails about courses they offer but they are more expensive at around $200 per course ( ie basic lighting is one course, portraits would be another) i think smartshooter offers tutorial dvd s on a range of subjects, not sure how much they are.

You might also look at lynda.com
They have online training on a lot of different subjects. You can sign up for as little as $25.00 a month and take as many courses as you can do. I did Photoshop Elements there and like it.
