We are staying at AKL in a 2BR value from 1/26/13-2/1/13. I know you can't request a view but are the chances better to get a better view if you check in when you get there and can talk to the CM directly?

I have found that the only disadvantage to on-line check in that that you your room is selected before you arrive. You can ask for them to change it, but it is pre-set in your prepared docs.

We went and stayed in Jambo earlier this year in a standard view studio and I requested whatever savannah view you could choose from the pulldown menu in the online check in and we got an incredible view...here's a pic from our balcony!!!:goodvibes

So online check in seemed to work out for us!

I've done pretty well with requests. I was my impression that rooms are assigned prior to you checking in, anyway, but you are able to actually talk to a CM who can make changes if you don't check in online... I don't know if you can do that when you do online check in...

Thanks so much for the replies.... I think I will skip on-line check in this time.

In fact you CAN do changes once you get there even if you have done Online check in. It might be different for each resort, but we did that last week at OKW.

I always do Online check in and have changed the room a couple of times when we got there.

We did too in nov. the ground floor we had requested was not ready when we arrived around 9 am but a 2nd floor in turtle pond was. We took it and it was a great location and even bring on the 2nd floor wasn't bad.

I did the online check in, but I also called MS a day or two later and put my request on the room, which was met!:cool1: So, there's always that option as well.

We have had our room changed at check in (due to request), but that is not typical.

Does anyone know whether chances of getting a change are better if you check in before 4 or after?

I honestly think it all depends on the CM you get at the desk and the crowds during check in... and luck of course.
I've never had any of our requests filled when we stayed at BLT (we always put 1 request only) but have had good luck at BWV with online check in.

I would say the earlier you check in, the more options you would have to switch.

That said, checking in early doesnt mean your room will be ready earlier, and does not necessarily mean you will have an option to switch.

So online check in seemed to work out for us!

The day we got this room (had used the online checkin) we checked in pretty late.....around 4 or 5 PM i believe!

I agree with OP who said it's luck of the draw...:goodvibes
Nothing wrong with trying to increase your odds tho!!!!!

ill share my experience with online check-in this trip.

SSR - online check-in, requested congress park and 7pm checkin. package was ready when we arrived and we were in congress park.

AKV - online check-in, requested sunset savannah (previously asked for close to lobby during call to MS) and 9am check-in. Room was ready at 1pm, not in sunset savannah and midway to the lobby. The front desk moved us closer to the lobby when we originally arrived to see if our room was ready at 9am.
