I have posted several times that Members shouldn't try to experience anything new at Disney until the bugs are worked out. Doesn't matter if it's a new resort or dining plan. The on-line check in process sadly is no different.

We checked in at OKW a few days ago, waited at the check in sign while other non on-line members were being checked in ahead of us. Didn't receive a parking pass nor were we asked if we needed one. Checked out today and moved to SSR. Didn't receive our express check out info. According to OKW Management the on-line process has several bugs and they are spending more time fixing problems than with the old process.

Check in at SSR was also an issue due to on-line check in. The Cast Members had to discuss with each other for 5 minutes how to check us in. Received our parking pass without asking, but didn't get our requested building or view. When I asked a Manager if not getting our room request was due to on-line check in, all she would say is that "they do their best".

I got the feeling that on-line check in does affect our room requests as others have reported.

Even if they work out the bugs, checking in on-line doesn't seem to be much of a benefit.

I agree with you. We used the on-line check-in at WLV last week (split stay due to a cruise) and both times I stood at the online check in counter waiting for someone to show up to help me while guests in the regular line were taken care of right away. When someone finally did show up, I was given a packet with some other family's DDP information.

We received our ground floor request for the first stay, but not the second. In any case, there didn't seem to be any benefit at all to using the on-line check-in, and I'll stick with the "traditional" way from now on...

We won't bother with the online check in for our trip in June. I just haven't seen a definite benefit to it yet. I think Disney has a lot of bugs to work out.

Thank you for the feedback. I certainly would have used the online check in. We've had great experiences with other organizations using online check in. It is disappointing that Disney just can't get this right.

Now we know!

Thanks again,

We used on-line check-in at OKW on March 1(first week it was available). A CM was ready and waiting for us behind the appropriately assigned area of the check-in counter. Everything was ready for us, including our parking pass and room keys. Our room was ready and our room request was met (the request made during our original telephone booking with MS). This was all at 8 AM. Our experience was exellent with online check-in. Sorry others have had a problem, but we will continue to use it until our experience is otherwise.

This morning when I checked in at 7:30 AM I was told that we didn't get our request. This afternoon when our room was ready, they had moved us to our requested building and view. I'm wondering if it was because I spoke to a Manager?

You know, I haven't been lucky AT ALL with requests. The only request I had that was ever met was at SSR, and it was because I had requested a handicapped room close to the main pool. I call at 7 months, and go during spring break or late July/early Aug.

With that said, I'd be very interested if on-line check-in has anything to do with it, or if your room assignment comes when you call MS and book the reservation. :confused3 If it's at the time you make the reservation, then how you check in wouldn't play a role. I have a trip coming up in April, and we booked a value at AKV. I requested a savanna view first, and if savanna wasn't available, a pool view. Given the fact that the majority of these are either savanna or pool, the odds should be in my favor. But, I'll be very interested to see what happens.

Have a wonderful stay!!! :goodvibes

I've been lucky with requests everytime we have stayed at a DVC resort. We ususally don't get very picky (like this room with this kind of view) but rater a section request.

I think we are going to skip the on-line check-in in June as well. It just seems like it is more hassle than it is worth. I hope they are able to everything worked out because it would be a great service to use.

I wonder if this whole on-line check in process is linked to the new computer systems associated with dining and tours? Our FW Segway tour was not given the discount despite using Disney Visa and being a DVC member. The tour does recieve the discount . After many calls, I finally got someone in customer relations to actually open a "case file" for IT because no-one knows why no-one is getting the discounts, nor do they know when it will be fixed. She assured me that she is "on top of it" and will call me as soon as the discount is refunded to my cc. Well, we will see,,,,I will be calling back, despite her assurances. They are STILL using two computer systems. NO WAY I will use on-line check in.:sad2:

we arrived at the Boardwalk about midnight and there was only one person working. Although our packet was ready and took just a few seconds we had to wait about 10 minutes for other partys in front of us who did not use it.

We used online check in for an OKW reservation last week. It took longer to check us in, than normal - CM was confused.

Really, I don't see any value in how DVC/WDW have configured the current process. The check in process doesn't take much time.

Now, if they had an online check in like homewood suites, where you can select you room, that would add value.

I have yet to use this on line check in but to me it sounds like yet another transfer of labor from the merchant to the customer.

I used online check in for AKV concierge last week and there was no benefit. I picked up the packet from the concierge desk and still had to sign a form to check in, just like I'd have had to do with normal check in. We moved to VWL yesterday and there was no one at the "on line" check in sign so I stood in line to get my packet of info. It was 7 am and my assigned room was READY. Except I wanted a different one, one on the lake side for a change instead of the parking lot. I said I was going to the parks anyway and didn't care when I'd get the room so they assigned me one on the 3rd floor WAY at the end. A dedicated studio so that is nice. But with the online checkin, I didn't get my request. And it saved me no time at all so I won't be using online check in when we return in October.
