DVC News is reporting that you can now make requests doing on-line check-in and when doing it the Disney site will list a number of common requests made for the resort you have and you can check off up to two.

Wow, that must be really new! I just did online checkin about 2 weeks ago and it was the same old thing....

However, I had called MS prior to that trip and made my request. I was staying at the BWV and requested as far away from the lobby and elevator as possible. And since I get none of my request at the BWV, I got a room near the elevator and close to the lobby.....they just must get a good laugh at giving me the opposite of what I ask for. We even went to the front desk and asked about changing rooms as I had not touched anything in the room, but was told nope, they had a full house. The CM even laughed because she said she had checked in several families that day that were upset about not getting close to the elevator and here I was complaining (not really) about being close to the elevator. I've come to expect to never get a request here...I know I share this same issue with several other disboard members. The room was fine once I got use to it. It was strange for us to walk through the lobby every day as we seldom ever see the lobby once we check in. (We were on the second floor and passing through the lobby was the easiest way out.)

It will be interesting to see how people react to this. My guess is that the requests are very general and I see so many people here who have very specific requests, even down to room numbers.

I suppose what I'm wondering is if the requests listed will end up being the only requests MS allows? Or will they end up with some sort of free text box to allow other requests. It just seems that if they restrict the requests, people will just end up calling MS anyway, which I assume is something Disney is trying to cut down on.

Just some random thoughts. In general, I think it's great that the on-line is up and running and seems to be doing pretty well. :thumbsup2

I have just looked at online check in for our OKW stay in 10 days - it is cash stay through Disney UK with free dining as we were out of points!

Options are the different areas, ground floor & near transportation

We haven't made requests and probably won't bother when I complete online check in.

Had the same experience of getting the opposite of our request at BWV. Will be interesting to see how it compares with these changes. I'm not optimistic! It really seems to be totally random.

I understand it is an inventory thing but I can never understand why DVC members never are offered room upgrades like other timeshare members affiliated with hotels. Sometimes I don't understand the benefits, it is hard to book a room, you do not get what you request, and then they want all of this to be magical!!
