We are leaving for SSR soon and checking in on 6/24. My math:confused3makes that 7 days...under the ten day check-in limit. I figured I would try it.
First problem....try to find it on that DVC website:laughing::laughing:
It's not under managing or making reservations :confused3
After searching I found the way w/o help from the website because there is no "online check-in" place to go. I found it thru "upcoming vacations" where you can "edit/enter check-in information" ( NOT ONLINE CHECK-IN)
Soooo.... tried that and it shows my vacation details...at least that hasn't been screwed up :thumbsup2
Click continue and it goes out into computer land and never returns:confused: THE SAME PAGE COMES BACK UP.
Sorry for the rant but I never liked the DVC website set-up. I expect more from Disney but have been disappointed more often with them lately.
One would think that since they advertise it for members it would have been set up already.

I agree with you about the DVC member site not being very user friendly. I often find myself searching for things that should be rather easy to find in theory. I haven't tried online check in so I wouldn't know where to begin. I've heard good and bad things about it. I'm still pondering if I will use it on our next trip. Sorry your having problems with it. :sad1:

worked for me for both check ins in March. It did take an awful long time to come up though

I agree about the layout of the DVCmember site; I have to click on almost everything before I can get what I'm looking for!:confused3 But, on-line check in worked great for our recent trip. I was able to check in ahead of time, them walk up to the desk @ OKW :confused3and everything was ready & waiting. I will definately use it again (if I can remember how to get back there).

If the redirect from the DVC member site is difficult to find, or you have troubles finding it, you can always get to the same thing using this URL:
http://www.mydisneyreservation.com/dvc This is ultimately where you are sent when you click on the Celebrations/Online-checkin button from the dvcmember.com site.

Wow...I'm sorry it seemed so difficult for you. I've had no problems whatsoever.

From the main page, I just click on "view vacation details" in the quick link boxes on the right, and if I am within 10 days of arrival there is a button for online check-in right there. I click and within about a minute my online check-in is complete.

Disney websites generally are very user-cruel, and the Member website is no different. Lots of high-quality graphics, sound, etc -- poor function.

Before you get too excited about using this feature, however, understand that checking in online will erase all requests you made through MS.

If you made no requests, that's no biggie -- but otherwise it might be a big problem.

so sorry you had problems with it....we used it in april with no problems at all...this was for the BWV...our request were not deleted....we got upper floor and the standard view by the bus stop that we requested

I'm glad you had a good experience, but there have been numerous posts here with opposite results. We didn't use online checkin for our May trip, but I checked with the front desk manager and he confirmed that online deletes all requests except guaranteed categories (i.e. your Standard View).

There are a couple of options for requests during online checkin, but it deletes everything you did by phone.

We used online check in for our trip to Vero in May -- our requests were still there ... and met. May have just been luck of the draw, but it worked for us.

Thanks, I'll just give up. It wasn't too important anyway. It's something WDW pushes but doesn't back up with service.:lmao:
I did have a previous req. for Congress Park area and will leave it at that.

My Daughter has a studio for AKL and Saratoga. Most of the stay is at Saratoga.

Buildong area is the closest to DTD or main pool at Sara?

What about Kadano village?

Thanks Tigger

On-line check-in is only worth it if you are staying at a resort where there is always a long check-in que. We have used it several times and have had mixed results. At OKW we waited longer because we used on-line check-in.

We used it twice with great results everytime. None of our requests were deleted. Our room keys and package were ready when we got there and everything went smoothly.

If you are worried about requests being deleted, just do the online check in and then call MS afterwards and confirm that your requests are there.

I know the website has its challenges but it is so far ahead of where it was when we bought in 2004. I know Disney seems to have IT challenges with everything new but there really is a lot of good stuff in the website.

If you are worried about requests being deleted, just do the on line check in and then call MS afterwords and confirm that your requests are there.

The problem that many have had in the past was caused because the DVC computers don't talk the same language as the Disney computers. Just because MS can see your requests, doesn't mean that Disney has received them. The complaints seem to have decreased so maybe they have fixed the problem.

Your requests still won't be listed on the Disney website due to the language issue.

I suspect that they have fixed at least some of the problems as the whole process went very smoothly for us both times.

If you don't check in on line, no big deal, just stand in the regular line as always.

The jury is still out on whether on-line check improves or hurts the likelihood that you get your requests. We subscribe to the opinion that we have DVC...we will be back....we don't need to get our requests every time...we try not to obsess about it.... However, I could see it being a worry if the trip was one of our 'family reunion' ones. We did use the on-line check in for our big family trip this past March and it worked well.
