has anyone stayed at the hilton right across the street from downtown disney or the doubletree about a half mile down the road? how were they? one thing we are very concerned about is the shuttles. if we get a disney pass (hopper or not) do we have access to all disney transportation, or are those buses ONLY for inside resort stayers (like grand floridian, caribbean, wildernes lodge etc). when i called the hotel they said a bus leaves every 30 min. and it tells you which park it's going to. does that mean it has 1 bus and it goes to one park at a time, so that it is only hitting each park once every 2 hours????!!! or do they have a separate bus for each park? i'm thinking it might only be one bus, so that you could potentially have to wait 2 hours if you just missed the bus to animal kingdom. get my drift?

we have hilton points so we have to stay at one of those two. i've been reading the reviews here on both and ironically enough it seems like there are more favorable reviews at doubletree than hilton. (i read reviews at other places too) one last question: everyone says hilton is walking distance to dtd - are there sidewalks? is it a 2 min. walk or are we talking 10 min walk.

ps. this is my first time on this board! i haven't been to disney in 10 years (honeymoon) and never with kids. and omg! i could plan and research our trip til i'm blue in the face, couldn't I?

Have stayed at both. Always drove so I can't help with shuttles. You can use the Disney transportation but that won't help you with getting to and from hotel. It would help if you want to hop over to a park from an existing park. There are no buses between DTD and parks. Only DTD and Disney hotels.

Hilton is literally across the crosswalk from DTD. The Hilton sits at the light that you cross over to arrive by the Toy Store in DTD. It was great for that.
Pool area at Hilton is MUCH better than at DTS. Very nice, relaxing and upscale. If you have enough points here you are probably high enough to have Executive privileges. The items at breakfast were certainly enough for us to fill up in am. We never made it back for pm items, but the snacks were fruit, cookies, nuts etc.

DTS is at the far end of Hotel Blvd, walkable but you are talking minimum 10 minutes. The plus for this hotel is the two room suites. We enjoyed our stay there because it was a week when we would be doing room time as well. We had booked a great rate that included breakfast as well.

each side has 2 shuttles

the shuttles goes to Mk and AK

the other one goes to Epcot and Studio.

they do come every half hour - both shuttles. had no problem getting to the parks - but coming back from the MK before AK was closed is a problem.

AK is probably as far from MK as anything - so to go to it after AK (when you already tired) can be a problem. Might walk or monrail over to CR and take it DTD bus and walk back to your hotel - you will beat the shuttle back most of the time. This is only necessary as long as the AK is open.

Epcot and studio are close together so going to one after the other one is not a big problem.

the Hilton has EMH it is the only DTD hotel to do this.

What's the address of the Hilton? I would like to look into it as well, we have points saved too!
