We have always flown from our home town on the small planes and transferred to full size planes in either Detroit or Chicago, depending on if we fly Northwest or American. My question is, can you, and would it be a lot more expensive, to fly into a city in S. Carolina (wedding before vacation starts) have a 2 day layover and fly into Orlando. Then fly home without the S. Carolina route? Hope this makes sense. My parents are twisting my arm to go to my nephews wedding next Oct. 9 and we are supposed to go to WDW that month too.

It would be a lot more expensive to do it that way. You might be better off to price tickets from your home to SC roundtrip, then price from SC to WDW.

Otherwise it is what is known as an open jaw ticket. They are always more expensive.

You could look into one-way tickets for each leg you are wanting to do.
Home-SC wedding
SC-MCO
MCO-home.
It will cost more then a two-leg trip but if thats what you need then you might have to.
Good luck.

It gives you an extra flight you probably didn't want to do, but the pricing would usually be lower.

Basically, you can take a RT from your home (or nearby) to either MCO or SC, then another RT from one to the other. (Actually, going to Charlotte, NC might be the better choice of airport, depending on where in SC you need to be.)

We do this all the time on overseas flights where we need to visit more than one European country to see various family members. It is almost always WAY cheaper, though a bit of a hassle to take an extra flight.

It's too bad you are trying to get to the Carolinas, as SWA doesn't fly anywhere in either one of them.

You might want to consult a travel agent, or someone really experienced in pulling up lots of flight options. It depends on what airlines are available, and what 'specials' and booking rules are applying at that time. We've gotten lucky and booked a United flight from CT to Omaha to visit family and then on to Orlando 4 days later (considered a round trip by United). We got a direct flight back to CT on Delta, who had some phenomenal one way fares. Total cost --- $212, which was a few $$ less than our original plan to fly to Omaha and back.

But, on many airlines, a one way ticket will be much more costly.
