On Dining Plan, do you spend additional money on food?

I was wondering about this myself as well. My plan is to eat breakfast in the room and use some of the snack credits on water to stay cool in the heat

You will spend just a tad bit of extra money on food. See, with the dining plan you can have a certain amount of breakfasts, dinners, lunches, snacks, drinks, and other things. If you run out of snacks, but you're hungry, and need one when you weren't expecting to, you may have to spend extra money buying an extra snack. But with my family, we just gave the people our tickets and we were as good as fed. So easy. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Haha! :Pinkbounc
My family loves the dining plan. I hope yours does, too. It saved us a TON of $$$!! :sunny:

We've gone with the DP twice and both times I paid OOP for some of my daughters kids meals or had her share off our plate (she was 3) and I also paid OOP this last time for snacks we bought that were under 2.50 because they didn't maximize value. Well we ended up with tons of leftover snacks and counter service and even 2 table service. Needless to say trying to be frugal on the dining plan cost me money! So this time when I go with just my hubby I'll use up the credits at the beginning and if I have to pay OOP at the end I will. I'm estimating $70 extra for food for 3 nights. :thumbsup2

We spent a bit extra only on snacks, but now with the new snack changes I don't think we will have any need to!! We always brought all our own water bottles for the day.

We will probably spend a few hundred extra. We like to order alcoholic drinks with our dinner and around the pool. If we want something not on the plan, we pay for it. Example: glow in the dark ice cubes for DS, khaki ghori, mini donuts at waterparks, etc. I am excited that the snack choices are better this year and will cut down on our OOP snack money. I also have more ADRs than TS credits so there is some more cash on the table. NO WORRIES...we are on vacation!

This will be our first experience with the free dining plan. It certainly sounds like we'll have enough food but I was wondering if you spend additional money on food/snacks/drinks. I'm trying to figure out how much money to take along. TIA.

We threw away $40 on delivery pizza @ pop century. In addition to that, we spent about $50 on alcohol at meals and $25 on misc. snacks like turkey legs, etc. It turns out that we could have spent only $5 on the turkey leg and used snack credits for the other stuff but we didn't want to run out later in the week so we bought some snacks w/ cash the first day. We had 12 snacks left less than 24 hours before we flew out! Use your credits FIRST and then pay OOP if you end up needing to do that.

We spent money on wine or other alcoholic drinks at dinner. Also, at Teppanyaki we paid extra for a sushi appetizer, and we paid for 2 extra appetizers that were not on the dining plan when we ate at Yachtman Steakhouse.

We bought a few snacks out of pocket such as a $1.00 piece of fruit that we didnt' think it was worth using a snack credit on. We also bought one or two breakfast sandwiches at the Beach Club Marketplace out of pocket because we did not want to use a CS credit on those.

We are just because we have more TS booked than what we are allowed on the dining plan. I think last year when I went I might have purchased 1 extra snack (frozen lemonade's, but they are on the dining plan this year!)
