On check out day, do you usually call bell services, or take your own luggage down?

Stay usually at BWV or AKV. Always use bell services for luggage. It is our way of cheating on the 11 o'clock check out time....

We do both. If we are in a hurry to catch the ME bus, we usually take it down ourselves (we learned our lesson a few vacations ago). If we want them to store it, we usually call bell services. I do find that in our experience, the majority of time, we have waited more than 30 minutes. However, we did have on two occasions, waited less than 5 minutes (we definitely gave him a little extra;) ).

You see, certain members of my family have the slow-packing gene. Check-out morning I am usually up, packed, and ready to go by 8. For others, there is stage one, getting them out of bed, which usually involves a series of threats, including that I will pour water on their heads, and it takes quite a bit of time and effort. Stage two is the pre-packing stage. That involves numerous inquiries such as "Aren't you done yet in the bathroom?" and "Haven't you started to pack yet?"

Stage three is the "almost" stage. That usually involves asking the question, "Are you packed yet" every 10 minutes for about 2 hours to which the response is always "almost." Stage four is the too much stuff phase. Invariably at some point I am informed by one or more that there is too much stuff for the suitcases and thus at least one of them must go down and have stuff packed and shipped. That quickly leads to the "You go out and cool down" stage as I am informed that my belligerence is not appreciated and that I should sit on the porch and have a cup of coffee.

Finally, moments before 11 o'clock comes the "Have you seen my" stage. This often involves multiple parties calling out, "Have you seen my belt?" "Have you seen my cell phone" etc. It is at this point I call for bell services, and thus technically meet the 11 o'clock deadline, while the internal conversation continues with things like, "When did you last have it?" "I can't remember?" "Did you take it off in the park?" "Why would I take my belt off in the park?" "Did you pack it?" "No." "Have you actually checked whether you did?" And eventually, after searching every closet, drawer, under the beds, under the sheets, in the refrigerator, somebody says, "Oh, it's in my suitcase." Meanwhile, it is approaching 11:30 or even later but, as I know from experience, when I call bell services just before 11, they are generally very busy and they don't show up for anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes, and thus by using them I buy that extra time needed to actually check-out.

We always use the bell hops at BWV, but don't at Hilton Head. Are there bell hops at Hilton Head?

Now that we have a (filled to the gills) Owners' Locker, I have to call Bell Services (maybe John should have the bins on rollers). So they may as well hold the suitcases until ME comes for us too.
 
Years ago before we had kids,my wife and I would never think about calling the bell service. 4 Kids later, we do not hesitate to use bell service. Its just much easier for us to have them come to our room and take it all away ! There's too much for us to carry and the kids are still too little to really carry it very far.

I think because we have gotten so used to using Magical Express and having the luggage magically appear at out hotel room ,we like the idea of having it taken away by Bell Services on the other end.
 
We always use bell services. The gratuity is WELL worth it! I have no desire to drag my luggage especially at SSR.
