I usually wait for the $49-$59 each way from Philly to Orlando each summer. This year I'm a little nervous because of the higher fuel costs so I booked at $79 each way.

This is our Magical Gathering so DH and I are paying for all 15 of the tickets!

My question is, if we get really lucky and the air fare goes down, will Air Tran give us a credit? That would be great because we'll be flying back in February.

Thanks.

While it's not an actual policy, they do give a credit as a courtesy (minus the phone fee). I've never NOT gotten a credit. In order to maximize your chances of receiving the credit, book the flights as 2 one-way trips vs. 1 round-trip. That way if one segment goes down and the other goes up you can get the credit for the one that decreased without having it offset by the increased fare. Because you are booking for 15 people you should be aware that you can only receive the credit for then number of seats they have available at the sale price. If they only have 6 seats available at the lowest price, you can only get the credit for 6 of the tickets. But check to see if the next lowest fare is less than you paid. Basically, it's the same principle as when you book. The most you can get at the lowest price first, and then work your way up. Then keep watching for further decreases.

I've never paid a phone fee for calling about a credit.....and I've gotten 2 on our flights so far (we currently have 2 trips/5 "legs" booked between summer vacation and a fall wedding in Orlando.) I am an A+ rewards member, so I'm not sure if that may have something to do with it. I booked our flights at $114 each way, and just call and get a credit when the fares drop. DH and DS are planning a trip (guys trip) next summer, so the credits will get put to use then!

Are all 15 people flying out of the same airport? You may want to check with for potential group discounts with the carriers out of your airport. I really doubt you will get the same fare for all 15 people booking it yourself as the airlines traditionally make a certain number of seats available at a certain price that increases as additional seats are booked.
Good Luck!

I did the same as the pp. I'm A+ member and called to request price adjustment credit. No problem. They did not charge me a fee for this.

They charged me last month ($10 phone fee per ticket). And I'm an A+ member.

I'm also an A+ member. Sometimes I get charged and sometimes I don't. It just depends on the CSR you get. I think technically they're supposed to charge the fee, but some just don't bother. I know the last time I got a credit the CSR was new and had to get a supervisor to instruct her on how to do it. I was charged the fee that time. So that's why I believe they're supposed to charge it.
