On a cold day, which attractions would you avoid/prefer?

We're going in December, so I want to plan for what to do on particularly cold days. Which attractions/parks would you avoid? Which attractions/parks would you prefer?

The only attractions I'd avoid on cold days are the ones where I might get wet - Dudley Do-Right, Popeye, Jurrasic Park. Other than that, I'd do all the others. If it were my one and only visit I'd do the water rides either first or last and then have a change of dry clothes with me.

:thumbsup2

I've never gotten wet on Jurassic Park so you could gamble on that one. You'll get wet on Dudley Do-Right and you might stay dryer if you jumped in the lagoon than if you rode Popeye. ;)

I personally don't like outdoor coasters on really cold days either. I hate that icy wind hitting my face.

Plus a trip to the people dryer would probably be in order. During chilly months, the lines for the dryer are 20 mins, while the rides they are for (Popeye & Ripsaw) will have 5 min waits the entire day!

We were at IOA yesterday on a chilly day (high low-mid 60s with a good breeze...actually a great park day.) We avoided Ripsaw and Popeye but did do Jurassic Park. We were in the middle row and I still got soaked (my head/shoulders of course I'm taller 6'2".) Fortunately we had a change of shirts so everyone was a-ok. Now when we left the park the kids hit the little Seuss playground (with water features) and got themselves soaked!

The indoor attractions are always nice for a good warmup. The Horror Make-Up Show is a nice and warm place with a good show too.

Seriously? A people Dryer? Where is that?

At this point, I don't even know which attractions are indoors or out. Are there more indoor attractions at Universal Studios than IOA or Disney parks?

We woke up to a chilly 38 degrees on Saturday. We went to Harry Potter for a last trip then over to Universal. Avoid the water rides...they all really get you wet. Jaws is okay. There are a lot of indoor rides at Universal, including Shrek, The Simpsons, Jimmy Neutron, MIB, and the Disaster show/ride. All were good places to get warm. A nice cup of coffee helped, too. We really liked Universal for our kids. They loved the Toon park and Curious George playground. The rides were such fun (though we avoided the larger coasters with our little ones). I think you'll be fine in that weather.

There are two. The one by Ripsaw Falls is next to the photo booth. It's a big orange thing.

The one by Popeye & Bluto's is near the restrooms and lockers. They both look like this:

Universal Studios has more indoor attractions than IOA. At IOA, the only indoor attractions are: Spider-Man, Cat in the Hat, Forbidden Journey, the Discovery Center, Poseidon's Fury.

At Universal, the outdoor attractions are: Rockit, Jaws, Woody's Coaster

Awesome. The people dryers are such a great idea. Does Disney have any? Thanks for the tips on the indoor vs outdoor. I get chilled easily, so I'll know what to do now. Thanks!

Just so you know, I think that people dryer is like 5.00 to use it.

You can also get wet on Twister depending on where you stand and if they are nice and turn off the water effect in the winter.

Take a raincoat, or better yet get a pair of rain pants and a jacket and ride everything...well except maybe for Popeye. Also pack a towel and dry socks in ziplock bag.

Yes, the dryer is $5 for a 3 min cycle.

Ziploc bags are your friend! Pack one to put phones/wallets/cameras/anything important in.

I have never seen those dryers at Disney, but they might be there, maybe near Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom.

Yes, Maruader is right. Ziplock bags. Popeye is the wettest ride I've ever ridden. MUCH more soaking than Kali. It's literally like taking a shower with your clothes on.

You can't stay dry on Popeye. After we were so drenched the last time I can't see a way to do it.

If you want to make sure that you stay dry, stay off Jurassic, Ripsaw, & Popeye for sure. One Fish Two Fish can possibly get you quite wet, depending. There is a splash zone for Sindbad, so watch for that if you go.

I am very little at 4'10". We sat in the middle on Jurassic, behind people. My kids, taller than me sat next to me. Next to me, didn't get wet at all. I got soaked & on the other side of kid next to me, got a bit wet. I actually saw the water coming at me, but there was no way to dodge it.

Got even more wet on Ripsaw. Popeye is drenching, put your shoes & socks in the bin.

Funny, my feet didn't get it on Jurassic or Ripsaw (probably because I had my head & body down.

On Jaws, didn't get wet at all. Don't know if we were just lucky or if the water doesn't really cover the area that much. :rolleyes1

I have heard that the people dryers don't work all that well, however they may warm you up for the moment. Nope, they don't have them at Disney, at least not unless they got one in the last year.

I recommend putting a beach bag with change of clothes (including socks), plastic bag for wet things, and a towel in a locker at Port of Entry. It's like $8 & you can keep using it all day as much as you want. Go do WWOHP, then make your way to the water rides. After you finish the 3 water rides, go to the locker, change clothes, put your wet clothes back in the locker & go on with your day. Then you can pick up your stuff on the way out. It works great. Either this or do all 3 water rides last just before you are leaving the park, however, it could be really really cold walking that far soaking wet.

I have NEVER been so soaked as I was on the Popeye rapids ride. I couldn't have been wetter if I'd jumped into a pool. I had to buy more pants or we would have left the park for the day.

There are people dryers at the exit, but we didn't see them at that time. Not sure why anyone would enjoy being that wet. We were there last week in November, and it got chilly at night. I will never ride that ride again.

It's kind of fun to be that wet when it's blazing hot outside. Of course, you have to have the right clothes on to get the full advantage.

I know what you mean though. I have never seen any ride make people that wet.
