Today was the day that three soldiers from the National Guard thanked Brittany for coordinating and collecting care items to send to soldiers and kids in Iraq! They had an assembly at school. First they presented her teacher from last year with a certificate of thanks to hang at the school and then they read the names of the kids in her class last year and had certificates for all of them with their names on it.
Then they called Brittany up and presented her with a certificate of appreciation from the Army and with a medal---the same medal that the soldiers get when they get a certificate of appreciation from what the guardsman was saying! Then the radio station recorded all the kids saying the Pledge of Allegiance and will air that in the morning on the radio next week. It was so cool.
Afterwards, the guardsmen are supposed to hand out school notebooks with "army" logo and promotions on it as well as keychains to all the kids.
I was so impressed with all that they did!!
