You all aren't going to believe this! You know that site (can't think of the link) where you can go do "time share" breakfasts and get "free" tickets for WDW or Universal or Sea World etc., right ... well I know our trip isn't till "next" fall but I thought -- never hurts to plan ahead and they have a form to fill out so I did. Mind you -- it will be me, hubby, 2 children, my parents going -- TWO different last names right? TWO different addresses and phone numbers right? So I sends in the form via email .. and gets a call today from a broken english speaking sort of guy stating that since we are "a group" we will only be getting 2 tickets and NOT 4! Well, needless to say I just wasn't having that! Who is he to say we are a group? So I said, you know what? We'll make this REAL easy, I'll just wait awhile, re-register and then set our breakfast dates for two separate days! No Problemo right?!?!? But I just couldn't believe him! Makes me almost want to find ANOTHER SCAM to do business with instead of them!!! LOL Just thought I'd share .......

It's best to stay away from ticket resellers. Even if you get a ticket, there's no telling if it's going to get you into the parks or not.

Run, don't walk...as far away from this as possible! Just looked at the web site and they want YOU to give THEM $20. when you register...they say it's refundable, but what that really means is high pressure sales and you'll have to be there for a long as THEY want you to be to get your tickets and $20. back. These are also single park/single day admission tickets... Guaranteed you'll be giving up 4+ hours of your precious vacation time! I'd also confirm the tickets don't have any special restirctions on when they can be used etc.

I would imagine that rather than being a scam, you mightl actually get what they are offering (of course, if they don't offer you a ticket with any real value, it's not worth your time) BUT you will definitely lose the better part of a day and as Peggy Sue pointed out, you'll be stuck there until they're DONE with you.

The best way to save any money on tickets, at the moment, would probably be either a discount like AAA, the Disney Club (saves about $8 - $10 per multi-day pass plus savings on resorts), and purchasing now for a trip next year (before the next price increase) would also help cut costs.

Well for starters, the website says a 90 minute presentation and believe me, my father is a retired policeman so if need be ... he will start raising holy heck and get us out of there before any MORE precious time is wasted.

I know we'd get the tickets, and if they even tried to "hold us" and "not give us the 20 until they were done ..." again my dad would raise heck. And personally, I consider just about any "high sales pitches" scams in my book NO MATTER WHAT THE FREEBIE is ....!!!

Just give your speech and give me my tickets!! We'll have to think about this as it get's closer ...... Thanks for the input!

There is also no telling if the ticket is any good right now..I heard of someone who sat through their sales pitch and the ticket they got was only good certain months of the year..not the month they were even there..so beware!!! I suggest you avoid these people, if you need money for admission, have a yard sale or something...Also once you get on their mailing lists you will be on every sales list and telemarketing list going....

If you were to have problems and you dad did raise "heck" they could very well call the police and have you escorted off the premisis.

Your only recourse would most likely be through the courts in a "fraud" suite or something.... I doubt the local law enforcement would force them to do anything on the spot.

I would not touch this with a ten foot pole ... never ...

Yep, I think avoidance is the key here. I'm just so mad that they'd try and tell me that since we were a "group" that we'd only get "two tickets total" and that's just a down right crock of you know what!!! I mean really, my family is SEPARATE from my parents, they are paying THEIR way, and us OURS! So why not have "two tickets for us" and "two tickets for them" -- after all -- if we DID buy into their "timeshare" it would be "our" purchase or "their" purchase -- certainly not a GROUP purchase!!!

On a positive note, we did this a few years ago, and it worked out pretty well. We signed up for two tours, for the very first time slot for both (two separate days). Both included breakfast, which was nice, although one breakfast was basically pastries and fruit. Just to let you know, in Florida BY LAW they cannot keep you more than 90 minutes. We were very forceful, and my husband is an attorney and started telling them all about how they had no right to keep us. Anyway, all in all the experience ate up about 2 1/2 hours each(including driving time). I know that is a lot, but if you pick the right ones, that give you two park tickets (some just give you a "discount" off park tickets-avoid those), that adds up to about $80 in free tickets for 2 1/2 hours of your time. I don't work outside the home, but if I did I think I would work 2 1/2 hours for $80!. LOL Now, the down side is that that they are VERY pushy (be strong!), they often try to get you to leave your kids in their "playroom" (yeah right, like I would leave my children with perfect strangers), and at one resort they kept asking us, as if they doubted us, about our income. If you don't make 40K per year they won't show you around. I thought THAT was rude. Come one, I know we are young, but my husband is a lawyer! Anyway, we considered it "working" for our tickets. We did that trip on a shoestring at the last minute, so two free days worth of tickets helped. One thing I would not have felt comfortable doing is taking the tours if we were not actually interested in purchasing one (although not necessarily at that time). I couldn't have felt good about that, but that was just our own personal feeling...and I have no idea if you want to purchase one or not, I was just mentioning how we felt!

On that same note (maybe I will write another post...does the DVC ever offer any special offers or opportunites for "touring?" We got an entire free weekend at the coast for looking at a timeshare, and someone just called me last week wanting to know if we would do another. Thanks!

DVC does not offer incentives for touring. Besides cookies, lemonade and some coffee. They DO offer a discounted 'financing' rate if you purchase within 30 days of your presentation - which was handy for us.

The benefit of touring (and buying I would hope) with DVC is that then you own a piece of the MOUSE. We did, we bought and it was one of the best decisions we made.

DWM, I don't think it's a "scam", just your typical timeshare presentation. They are all over the internet, telemarketing and Orlando. I went on one in 1999. The experience was typical, a high pressured salesguy who was replaced by two or three managers trying to convince me the so called "plusses" of paying $400 monthly for something I only see every now and then. I'm sorry, no sale.

I went for the money. Yes they do ask for a deposit, mine was $10, but I got it back at the end of the presentation along with $90. I also got a limo ride back to my hotel. I was taking a day off from the parks and it was my last day there so that was why I didn't get the tickets. Most of the people I spoke to though, were there for the tickets.

I work with a team of high pressured sales execs so I'm completely immune to the schpiel. I did mention the Florida law to them in no uncertain terms and they happily let me go. All in all I got a breakfast, a great tour of a very nice property, a limo ride and $100 for an hour and a half of my time. I don't think that's a bad exchange.
