I didn't know my husband had another wife!!!
My MIL is the exact same way! I can't stand her! When we got engaged she said (after she had seen the ring a few weeks earlier) infront of the family at thanksgiving "You didn't make Mat buy you a stupid ring right? What a waste of money!". I didn't know what to say other then "Yes he did, it was quite expensive, and you saw it 2 weeks ago!"
Too bad for my my husband was upstairs at the times. She always says her charming things when he's out of earshot.

Sounds like my sis-in-law. When DH and I were in engaged MIL did an engagement dinner for us (just close family). MIL came out of the kitchen and said to sis-in-law - well you have gotten what you have always wanted. Sis-in-Law replies, what a dog? No, MIL says a sister (as she is only girl out of 4). Sis-in-Law says Oh, I'd rather have a dog!!

Ha! Ha!! And that I have been doing! DH and I have been married over 12 years now. Whenever someone says something about how SIL has behaved or is behaving, we always bring up this story to show that is how she is, and probably always will be!!
