Just got back yesterday from WDW and we had the most magical holiday.

We were just sitting outside Cosmic Rays having a cup of coffee whilst the kids went on the tomorrowland speedway when we were approached by a CM called Fred. We were having a general conversation about different things when the kids arrived back from the ride. We must have been talking for about 10 minutes and at the end he asked if we were staying at the park all day - which we were. He asked if there was something we could do for him, but only if we really wanted to - well when he asked if we wanted to be Grand Marshals in the parade we got so excited!

We were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary 5 days after (this was last Monday 3rd August)

Anyway - we had to meet him by the firehouse at the top of Main Street at 2.40pm for the 3pm parade. There was another family (the Quarles') with us and each of us were given a set of Mickey Ears with our first names stitched onto the back. We had a banner of different colours to also hold in the car and my family sat in the front part (as there's 5 of us) ansd the other family sat at the back. We had a photopass photographer take photo's at different parts of the parade (I think there was just slightly over 40 photo's take) and we got a voucher for a free 5 x 7" photo. We had the photo but didn't need it as we pre-purchased a photopass CD and had the photo's added to our account.

We weren't allowed to take photo's once we were taken backstage, but Fred was able to take a couple photo's of us sitting in the back of the car - here's the facebook photo link:-

We couldn't believe we had been chosen :lmao: - we waved so much our arms hurt but it was so exciting to see everyone's faces - we were photo'd/video'd and waved back to! Just had to share our excitement!! :woohoo:

wow, that must have been amazing!! so jealous! but so happy for you that you got to experience that!

Fantastic, what a memory. :cool1:
Hope the kids won't expect it again next time you go back:rotfl:

What an absolutely amazing experience, so pleased for you :yay:, but just a little jealous too!!

We realise that with the sheer numbers of people in the parks that day that it was a one in a million chance of that ever happening - luck was definately on our side that day! LOL :lmao:

Wow that's great! Love the pics! :goodvibes

What a lovely thing to happen!

I always wave back at the Grand Marshalls but noticed most people don't seem to. Was this your experience and did it feel odd?

We had a few people wave back at us - I guess people react back to you - there were alot I guess who would not have waved unless we waved at them first - I don't really know. We were definately on a high being chosen and so privaleged, so made the most of our experience.
I realise not everyone is the same as me. There were alot taking photo's - and I'm being honest here - we don't have a single photo of a grand marshal and I don't know why - I blame my hubby as he takes the photo's!! :lmao:
I do the videoing and we do have them on that, but everyone is different.
It is an awesome experience and will defo make the effort in future when we see others doing it. :woohoo:

I agree completely. I think it is very important, especially for children, that a wave is returned!!!

I must say I have never taken a picture of them either though!!

What a fantastic experience that must have been.
Your pics on facebook are great too.

A great experience for you. We were chosen a few years back to ride around the halloween parade aboard the omnibus, amazing experience.:goodvibes

:cloud9:Wow what a fantastic experience for you all, I bet you never forget it and it will give you a lovely happy feeling each time you recall the day:hug: Treasure the memories, they truly made your day magical and even better that you were celebrating your anniversary too:goodvibes:goodvibes

Wow - how fantastic!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I also never realised they just approached people in the park - brilliant!! (I thought, although I probably didn't think too much!!:lmao:, that they were people either related to a CM or on a make a wish vacation or something, so its great to know that it really could be anybody selected!):thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Wow! How wonderful -thanks for sharing!
