I knew my friends on here would understand my happiness! We were booked at the HoJo, but decided today to switch to the DLH and I am so excited.

Anything I need to know?

Woohoo!!

You'll have a great time! We stayed at HoJo our first trip but have stayed at DLH since. Main thing I would say is don't expect the walk to the park to be any shorter! But the DLH is just so ... Disney!

My kids' favorite things there are the pool and the big souvenir shop on property. My husband's favorite is that he can get a nice cocktail from the bar and enjoy it at the pool. Much nicer than HoJo's in that regard. My favorite is just the atmosphere, plus I really like being able to buy things at the shops in DL and have them delivered to the hotel without having to worry about lugging things around the park.

Enjoy!

This is our first time to DLR at all! I'm sure HoJo would have been great for us, but being out first time and who knows when we will get back, we decided to go for it.

I really wanted the EE and to just be submerged in Disney for our short time there. Like I said, I am really excited about it. Looks like we will be able to utilize the monorail, too, which is nice.

Definitely utilize the monorail, I swear by it. Some people says it takes as long, but I have never had a similar wait for the monorail as I have with the walk. So convenient when staying at DLH! Have fun!!

The little handout they give you regarding Wifi access is wrong - you can definitely access it in your room. No need to go downstairs for it.

We have a deluxe pool view room. Is this one of the ones with the light-up headboard? I can't find much info online about this particular room.

Do they have balconies?

Thanks!

We have stayes at DLH a number of times and PP just as many. OH, Heck we even stayed in the DL campground 20 some years ago--LOL. ( There was a strawberry field between the park and DLH then) Ok back to your trip now-- You are going to love the convience of having the monorail take you to the back part of tomorrow land.

We had two kids a 4 and 8 year old who wanted to take the monorail every time we went to DL.

The pool is great. The kids had so much fun. They would have rather just swam all day and skipped the parks. Sheesh are these really MY Grandkids:confused3. Ya they are those silly kins. The rooms are large and have a special treat for big and little ones--- Make sure you slip the switch near the head board. It is magical. Each night we got candy coins on our beds. I think back in the day we only got those if we were concierge. Can't afford it at today prices. ( It could also be the Mouse Keeper paid out of pocket for the candy coins -- In our case we did up her tip for the coin surprise each night).

The walk to the front gate might be a bit longer, but you are going through DTD so it makes the walk interesting. To get to DCA you can go out the door near the PHC restaurant. Walk across the street to the front entrance of GC. Follow the signs to the guest ony entrance to DCA. Takes maybe 5 mins or less depending. Remember you get early entry every moning of your visit. This is a wonder perk IMO. Yes early entry into DCA to. Going to make it a great perk to get in line for RS-cars ride.

I wonder if you can check in before early enrty so you could use your arrival day for early entry. Might be to much to ask I suppose.

Have a great trip.

Remember that Mimis', the restaurant across the side street from HOJO's is great for breakfasts and lunches. prices are great to. Make sure you get some muffins to take back to room-- yummy.

Yes, Yes, you will ahve the magical headboards. :) I think the small 2 foot wide balconies that were in the past are all gone now. They were pretty useless IMO anyway.

All the rooms have light-up headboards now, even the standard views. None of the rooms have balconies that I know of anymore, though the rooms themselves are spacious and I prefer more indoor room.

The suites have balconies, they have chairs and a table. If you get the park/downtown Disney view, you can sit outside and watch the fireworks.

Wow I hope we are in the same situation you are in now for next summer. We are leaning towards HOJO's for our first trip to DL next July 2013 but I am wishing for lots of magic to stay at DLH.:wizard:

Not sure if you have little ones/stroller? At least the last time I took the monorail, we had to fold up our stroller (where at WDW you can push it right on). Wasn't a big deal in the morning b/c we were prepared and the underneath baskets were empty. But on the way back, if you have a lot of stuff in there, or tired little ones - you might be better off with the walk IMO. Have a magical trip!

We get the military discount, which was still quite a bit more than HoJos, but sometimes you just gotta jump ;)

And I am still undecided if we will bring our umbrella stroller or just rent one if we need it, but thanks for the Monorail tip.

Not sure when you stayed there last, but the GCH entrance last week was jammed and there was a long, long line waiting for entry to DCA for EMH (it was almost to the main lobby). In fact, there were TONS of guests exiting GCH into DTD to use the front gate rather than stand in line for the GCH entrance. We walked in, saw the line, walked out, and there was little to no line for security or the DCA front entrance. Any guests waiting in the GCH entrance line were likely delayed ~15 minutes getting into DCA by the time we arrived, which was 5-10 minutes before DCA opened for EMH. Even after stopping for a birthday button, we were in line for RSR by 7:15 even after waiting for a MYW ticket exchange.

Have a great time!! My daughter and I have stayed at the DLH several times and we just love it!! You will love the monorail too! It's great to just hop on and ride back to the hotel to refresh yourselves before heading back for the evening. We haven't stayed there since they renovated the rooms, but they sure look great! We are going in August, but the budget won't let us stay there this time. Was hoping for a pin code, but doubt that will happen. We will be staying at Hojo's but will still take the monorail to DTD and walk over to the hotel to check out the changes and eat at TT. Congratulations on jumping ship and staying on property!! You will just love itpixiedust:

We had a standard view room on the 10th floor in the Fantasy Tower last week, and we had a view of Space and the Matterhorn. Plus, the one night our DDs crashed early, we caught Magical from the room with a full view of all the fireworks, as well as Dumbo and Tink 'flying'. You could also see the very end of F! when the pyro technics went off. The only down side was the one AM when it appeared that only one elevator was operating. I never saw the third elevator, and the middle one stopped @ the 10th floor twice w/o the doors opening (this elevator appeared to have issues throughout our stay). The first elevator (I say first as it was the end closest to the front desk) eventually showed up and I jammed in it, and it proceeded to stop @ every other floor on the way down with lots of guests waiting @ each stop. That was not a fun morning considering the reason I was using the elevator (a second time) was because DW misplaced her cell phone, went back and couldn't find it, so I had to go back a call it to find it.

congrats! we will be there in 11 days. I called today and added a night to the beginning of our stay. Usually we drive down and stay someplace cheap for the first night. This time, I didn't want the hassle of moving. Plus, I want to use EE on our first day w/o having to drive.

We haven't stayed at DLH since the refurb, really looking forward to it!
