OMG. touring plans just updated my May dates from a 6 to 9 and 10. What?

What dates? It could be a glitch. It has happened before. Look to see if they made an update on their blog about a glitch. If it is a glitch, they will correct in a day or two and send out an email update.

Probably only Disney has any sense of the future crowds in May due to needing park reservations. Doubt they share that with any 3rd party. It's anyone guess how crowded Disney will be going forward depending on the situation with covid. Seriously doubt anyone's crystal ball is able to predict such things.

I think historical crowd patterns don't apply as much, with pent-up COVID travel demand plus Disney's reservation system as unknown factors. My sense is that Disney is trying to equalize crowds throughout the year by adjusting price, so they can better plan staffing levels. When we were there over the holidays I expected huge crowds - but wait times weren't that bad. That suggests that it no longer matters as much when you go from a crowd standpoint.

As someone who just got back from an early Feb trip that at least several folks in our family take almost every year - even pre-pandemic - we were shocked by the crowds. There's pent-up internal demand + folks are still slowly opening up their wallets & minds to traveling internationally. Thus, the domestic resort spending is continuing well into 2022.

As others have menitoned, you'll be fine. Pack your patience & plan as well as you can. Utilize rope drop and EMH if you can.

You'll be fine as long as you plan ahead and prioritize. Those predictions are not as accurate as they used to be regardless. Since the pandemic, crowd patterns are shifting, making things harder to predict.
I completely disagree with plan and organize. With the amount of ride breakdowns I’ve seen, you can throw planning out the window. Plan on all of 2022 being level 7-10 crowds.

Has happened to both of our trips 2 weeks before our dates.
Had several parks go from 2-3 to 7-9.
I suspect the early low estimates were too low. The newer one may be right or over estimate.
The old data they used for predictions doesn't work, so there are much larger changes closer to your dates.

Same here! From a week with crowd rates 2 and 3 the whole week to 6 (1st week of April)! Great. Wondering if I should bu that Genie+ now after all. Or maybe try and make use of EMH and rope drop but with 2 kids in tow not the most pleasant news.

TP crowd predictions getting updated (usually to increase) has happened pretty regularly over the years. There have been several times over the years that we had crowd predictions of 2-3 when we were going and then a few weeks out, they increased to 7-9. :scared1:

For what dates? I've been watching my dates in May and they've stayed the same. Are you traveling closer to Memorial Day?

Hard to plan ahead when you can’t book anything until 7am day of. And that is a crap shoot. I’ve told everyone in my party to expect much less than we usually get done. Then if something. Happens to go right it s a bonus.

I’m curious what dates? There are some big conventions over Memorial Day in Orlando. The nation’s largest cross-disability event brings in about 10,000 people with disabilities and their families. And the FPEA homeschool convention is that same weekend.

i can't believe people are still using that website, granted the fee is pretty low but pretty average information at this point. 10 years ago it was helpful but you can literally check the crowd levels 4 different ways for free in real time.

Frankly I'd be shocked if those dates were just 6.
Going the same week. Bummer for sure, but truly not unexpected. With crowd levels at 9 and 10 in January despite the lesser experience and increasing costs, I figured it would be awful crowds despite the Touring Plans prior rosy outlook.

Disney could likely double ticket prices and make G+ a $100 per day and crowds would likely still be awful. Population booming, stimulus checks, fear of many to travel internationally…Europe, Cancun, cruises…the parks become The Destination.

Don’t forget, Disney has been getting a ton of bad press and the overwhelming crowd levels are fairly common knowledge and it still has failed to deter travelers.
