OMG Staff was just extremely RUDE

I was in a game of pirates and this girl called everyone names so we all reported...I got the standard "we will check it out and take appropriate action, use ignore" etc.


Well I reported her again saying "No ignore <bad word> is not accept able for little people to see in game"

I got back(wish I had taken a screen shot) I will be reporting to contact us also.

" I know you know that VMK staff are adults and we will not be discussing any action we take with you"

EXCUSE ME!

If you are an adult act like one. I did not ask you to discuss your actions with me....I do ask that a "DISNEY" run game be decent enough for the target group to play and that includes not sending out lame messages telling me or anyone else to use the "IGNORE" button when reporting a player for using bad language in the game even if the words are not in themselves bad we all know what they mean!

I also expect that VMK staff when addressing players with concerns talk to them with respect and politely. All of which I feel the above was not.

Yes I am livid and yes I will be writting a long letter about this to corporate.

id expect a little punky rebel kid saying that, but an ADULT? ppl must be taking those crazy pills again...

You do have a point but.. if they were to be polite about a serious problem it wouldnt work out its like a Mom saying to a child "please dont do that ok? :)" it wouldnt help so they have to be firm about problems. Excuse me if im wrong..
 
I've gotten really tired with the way VMK runs things. I've seen this one player walking around VMK who goes up to people, sharing personal info and saying rude comments. I've reported her over 10 times in a month and she is still walking around VMK. They ban the wrong people and ignore the wrong situations.

I think that's kind of the point though. They AREN'T firm about a lot of problems. I've seen people who say terrible things over and over never go poof; in fact, I'll see them a day, a week, a month later. Meaning I see them very regularly, meaning little to no true action was taken, and yet they're still at it with the insults and bad language. VMK seems to be obsessed with worrying about shortkeys to input codes (which I do NOT use, to be clear), with making things like the Sparrow suit impossible for most to win, and yet nastiness and insults abound are a-okay, as is the whole taken and bay be garbage (but that's another argument, entirely).

I'm sorry that happened to you Mal. :sad2: It's truly a shame that anything with a Disney label attached to it has sunk this low, even just with that one example. Who knows how maNY others have gotten a message similar to that? I keep thinking about how Yavn said it "bugs" him that people don't report things. Yeah, well, when we do, we often get the ye old "Report button is for emergencies only. Use the Ignore button." VMK and the people who run it need to wake up and smell the coffee. Get their priorities straight and start enforcing their own VMK Values, rather than obsessing over how some items must stay rare, or whatever else is their rant of the moment.
 
mal i see your point clearly and i am very surprised that vmk didnt do anything about this..., Yavn your staff need better training!

like 7 months ago somebody reported me for not accepting their trade and friend request :rotfl: :rotfl: the staff contacted me to let me know and after i read that the person left

that is very very true, he wants us to report more often and when we do we get the essage of the ignore button :sad2:

i have another report story but this time i reported :rolleyes1 :ok so this 1 time i was in this game room and a girl said <bad word> and then the boy would not stop cryin'. at that time i didnt know what <bad word> meant to im like uh yea and left.(i was still VERY new to vmk at this time)anoutm 1/2 a month later i saw a movie and now i knew what it meant, so now every time any body says this <bad word> i report right away
 
You probably know more about this stuff than I do, but here's what I think:

I think "use the ignore button" is the standard response because, in most cases, it empowers you to block the offending player immediately. It doesn't mean they aren't going to investigate and punish the other person. It's just that they have a couple thousand people playing the game, they can't can't always respond immediately to every report.

So staff takes the opportunity to educate reporting players to the fact that they have an "ignore" feature. That way they can block out obscene or rude players and VMK will take action when they can get to it. And, I think it makes sense that they aren't going to give every player a followup on the action they do take, when they do it.

Does that make sense?

yes and I am not upset about that (well maybe a little )...I am livid about the second response.

And this goes to all those CL-haters out there! Community Leaders, like our Mal, do not have any better communication with TPTB then we do: so give it a rest with the CL-bashing. Thank you!
 
I've recieved somewhat the same treatment via report button, but that was a long time ago. Viewing VMK from today (and how people randomly treat me in the game), I can totally understand their mood swings. I can only imagine it amplified by a thousand.. I'd need a FAT paycheck to put up with it! :thumbsup2

I've also recieved instant message like help from them through the report button as well. If they have the time, and your problem is a true concern (mainly bugs and stuff loss), from my experiences they will do the best they can from their end. :thumbsup2

I for one, am not at all surprised that VMK wouldn't do anything about this. Sadly, I have come to expect the staff to be paying attention to the wrong things and not seeming to care about the players that really should be banned. Can you blame people who use scripting tools to get codes? VMK makes it so hard to aquire certain items from the online games that those sort of people will do whatever it takes to get them. But the people that really hurt others' feelings and say rude and obnoxious things are almost always overlooked.
Like that one time I saw some boy in VMK central say to a girl: ''I'm a boy and you are a lady, so get in my pants!'' or the time a girl just walked up to me and called me ugly and said my bird hat was gross ( :rolleyes: ) when I had said nothing to her. You hear these kinds of stories all the time, and yet things never seem to get any better in VMK.

I completely, 100% agree with SorcererDonald; he made some very good points and I couldn't have put it any better myself!

As for the comment Mal received, how utterly childish of VMK Staff.

I am not sure who is at the switch on those. I also got standard response on a report tonight real fast. I never go again on the report. but I have said before I think some have a more tactfull way to respond, rather then send it right away sounding like please don't bother us.
 
I think things might be different if VMK changed their "canned" response.
Instead of "use the ignore" button (which I think sounds pretty impotent
at best), I think they could have their Instant Response say something like:

"Thank you for reporting this incident. We will investigate this further. In the
meantime, please use the Ignore button on the player you reported."

Such a simple change, and it would probably lessen the feeling that you
get the brush-off from staff.

There's a huge lack of communication here, and it created an unnecessary
annoyance. I think it could have been avoided if the reporting process
was tweaked. I like LittleBelle's idea of FAQ types of issues that should
be reported, and players can check off the violations in boxes marked for
that purpose. And the usual, "Are you SURE you want to report this?" popup
would be nice.

Of course, I have no idea how much programming would be involved for this,
but as with the trade function changes, I'm actually optimistic that this also
can be changed.

I don't think this was meant to sound rude, but it's just the way it reads. I want you to imagine from their point of views. They must get hundreds of silly and stupid reports from people every day. They pay money to people who sit in an office and do almost nothing but sort through them. Stuff like "They cut me in line" or "She said bad words because it said ###".

Imagine sitting in that person's shoes. They probably get sick of it after a few hours of incompetent kids reporting everything just because they can. I'd probably get a little sarcastic too if I was on my last nerve. Granted, that's not very Disney-like, but you should give the poor monitor a break. She deals with all the crap all day long.

Also, as explained by Staff, I know how the report system works. It goes something like this:

1) You report something bad.
2) An actual person sits at the computer and chooses the appropriate response to send you. Sometimes they can type to you as you just saw.
3) The report goes into a never ending list that is checked by staff so action can be taken if needed. (the nonsense reports are just deleted)
4) Staff goes down the list and gets to your report.
5) A log of everything said in every instance of every room is kept. Even the stuff you say in a Pirates game or otherwise is logged and can be read by staff. When they get to the report, they go through the logs to see what happened.
6) They take appropriate action.

Sending more than one report kind of gums up the works. They will see everything that person said from the log. Unless they moved to a new area and started more trouble, another report isn't necessary. Even then, I'm not sure if they read through more than just the coinciding log. They might read on a little more into the day or they might not.

I can see why the monitor was annoyed, but that doesn't mean I agree with the attitude. She has the crappy job, but she's Disney. She's supposed to have service with a smile.
 
I have also reported ppl for a range of things from bad language, mature actions and words, telling me personal info, and theft. Each time I get the "Use the ignore button" response. And nothing ever gets done to these ppl. Some of which I allowed on my friend list just to see if they would get a ban. How about VMK uses a restrict player from speaking response so that not only do I not have to see this but the little kids dont have to either! That's what bugs me the most. Little kids having to see this type of behavior. Let me tell you having been to WDW more than once that if anyone kid or adult used that kind of language or behavior in any of the parks they would find themselves look at the parking lot very quickly with a security escort. VMK is supposed to look out for the kids and make sure that they are safe and ppl follow rules. If they are having a tough time because they dont have enough staff then maybe they should let some of the veteran CL's have a little more power to stop these type of actions when they are in the game. Make Super CL's with the power to ban ppl for an hour while VMK can look into the problem.

Isn't VMK an extension of Disney and their values? Am I mistaken or has the advertisement been feel like your in the Disney parks from your own home been said? VMK feels nothing like Disney when it come to staff and rules of conduct. The help button does nothing but leave you feeling like you just got brushed off. The conact us page (or the black hole as many of us know all too well) does nothing either. Heck it's a small miracle if you ever hear back from them on any subject. Staff are too overwhelmed to do little to nothing to correct these problems.

VMK please help stop the swearing, adult behavior and words, and stealing. Please take the time to listen when we send in a report. We don't just send them because we want to annoy you or make your day more difficult. We can see VMK values being totally disregaurded every single day. We take the time to help you out by reporting, don't ignore us.
 
VMK really needs to change at this point, I have been ban before at least 6 times , and one time it was for following my friend and saying "Hi" but when it comes to people saying bad words and doing bad things they don't take action. I mean come on because i said hi your going to ban me but when a person feels like swearing or doing something bad YOU DON'T CARE.
