I admit that I am a Christmas nut, but even I haven't put my tree up yet. But today I noticed that a neighbour has put theirs up with a rather large Father Christmas and Snowman in the window (does look nice).

So guys when are you planning on putting your trees up ?

I always put my decorations up the last weekend in November, as I like to make the most of them as they're only up for a matter of weeks.

Normally we put them up on 1 December but this year we wont be bothering, due to the fact that we fly out to Disney on 11 December and don't come back til 4 January, not really much point in doing it for 10 days.

Tree goes up the last weekend in November usually- theres already a lighted/decorated house near me too!

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening....................

:rockband: :thewave:

My tree isn't going up this year, for the same reason as Lisa above.

However we normally put the tree up on the last weekend before the end of term, so this year the tree would have gone up around 19th December. For me, it is nice to only have it up for a short time - seems more special that way. I can feel super duper festive when the tree arrives in the living room! I know lots of people that put theirs up on Dec 1st though :)

1st of dec for us. it might be later this year cos dh has to get them out of the loft and hes away till then. no chance of me going up there lol

1st of December here also.
I do need new ones, so I could do with having a rummage through what we have left etc.

There is a few houses round here, decked roof to bottom in lights, etcs, it is early I think but many people love xmas that much and want to make the most out of it,I suppose, keeps the kids entertained when walking home :) LOL!

P,s dont mention xmas shopping we have not started, and wont until last minute usually! argh!

I'm supprised folks in Nuneaton know what year it is never mind when it's time to put Xmas decorations up LOL (only joking mandymouse :) )

Oh Tim, and I thought you were my friend !!

'Memo to myself - strike Tim off my Christmas Card List'

I know us Nuneatoners are slow, but we usually know its nearly Christmas when we've been early for work for 2 weeks cos we forgot the clocks went back.

 Mandy~(incidentally...a lovely name! My sister shares this title with you), usually...I decorate AFTER Thanksgiving. BUT, since I'll be in London in two weeks...(until the middle of December), I decided to get a JUMP on the stuff. I began decorating last week. I have the faux trees nearly completed (one is all DISNEY, the other all HALLMARK). DH insists he will decorate the LIVE tree while we are in Europe. :p We will be VERY busy when we return, as we have another trip planned for San Francisco (just before Christmas). It will be so nice (relaxing) to have all this stuff completed and out of the way. ::yes:: I'm beginning to think these people (early decorators) have the RIGHT idea! I may begin (inside) right after Halloween, so I'm all done by Thanksgiving. :hyper:

Also...someone "mentioned" Christmas shopping! Argh...(panic sets in).. I have begun this a bit early this year as well, but STILL have lots to do!!

P.S. When my DH went into the loft to rummage around and bring down all the boxes...there were PIGEONS up there!! He tried desperately to "scare" them out...to no avail. He did not want to kill them (DD would freak-out), and could see the little "hole" they created under an awning (pushed through some mesh screen to get inside). They were stomping around...back and forth, heads bobbing, cooing...just LOOKING at him!! :earseek: TOO FUNNY.

He got serious and grabbed his paintball rifle, and shot some "talcom powder" balls over their heads. Nothing. Not even a FLINCH. (What did he expect? He was using BABY POWDER for peets sake!!). So, he got some PEPPER BALLS...and WHAM, they were out of there in a NY MINUTE! :teeth: SO WAS DH... :rotfl: coughing, eyes watering and gasping. He quickly climbed to the roof to patch the entrance. Lots of EALRY HOLIDAY DRAMA going on over here...

I am exhausted just reading your itinerary, you certainly are having a fantastic holiday season.

Have a great time in Europe, the UK and San Francisco.

I hope you manage to enjoy Christmas too, if I was doing half of what you are doing I would probably sleep through most of Christmas - LOL.

Enjoy your vacation

Thank you for all the kind words about my itinerary! Yes...it will be exhausting~but FUN (hopefully). We have always visited San Francisco before Christmas, as it's like my Manhatten of the WEST! :teeth: Lots of decorations, Holiday music piped outside on the streets, ice skating, and the hustle and bustle of the CITY! ::yes:: We always reserve a parkview suite in the Westin St. Francis (on Union Sqaure in the heart of the shopping District). It's lovely...

It's just incredible at Christmas. I'll post some photos when I return this year, the Lobby Tree, Dicken's group caroling and the Gingerbread house are astounding! Hope you enjoy the pics, and get a chance to visit this beautiful city sometime. California has SO many wondrous places to see. ;)

*My sister's name is Amanda, but she prefers MANDY. She has always detested Amanda. I personally, love both names...especially Mandy. I combine the names...and call her "Manda" most of the time. ;) She doesn't mind, as long as it's not Amanda! :teeth:

Just to let you know that my neighbour's lights and decorations look fantastic at night. Only thing is they've actually added a 'Nativity Scene' outside their house - I suppose its a bit different, but I'd be worried that someone would steal it.

Only 10 days till I put mine up - woohoo

I follow the US way of getting them up and lit the day after thanksgiving.

Incedentally, Copenhagen Airport last week was already decorated and lit

Schiphol airport in Amsterdam had Christmas decorations up as well yesterday.

We always put our decs up first Sunday in Dec, the house is in total chaos for the whole day the kids upstairs fighting over their baubles and things (they have a tree in their rooms)
Keith up the ladder stringing up the outside lights, and me dressing the other tree`s and the dog going mad trying to rip boxes, chase fairly lights and barking at everything.
Still Sunday night when it`s all done it is a lovely feeling ::yes::

Thats sounds just like our house. I put the decs up inside and DH puts the lights up outside and Lucy just takes things back off and says look at this mummy.

I can't wait till the wednesday evening and i'm sitting watching the tv with just the tree lights on:jumping1: I'm getting too excited:jumping1:

A family in the street next to us put their decorations up at the end of October!! They have decorated their whole house inside and out and their whole garden!! Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have a theme the items are just crowded together and it looks tacky (IMHO). I will put our decorations up the first weekend in December.
