I just had a guy at work come and ask me which would be the best disney park to go to in Orlando -

But get this - on this day, he is staying at Hilton (convention) driving to KSC and wants a park to go to for the evening only.

All the way to Orlando - one Disney park for half day only ---- !!! Which would you choose????

Oh my :scared1:

An evening..... at WDW..... having to choose one park..... :confused3

Well I was going to say EPCOT, so that I could see illuminations. But then changed my mind to Magic Kingdom if it was open later. With MK possibly being open until Midnight, and EPCOT seems to be about 9 or 10pm.

I'd probably go to the park that was open latest so that I got the most bang for my buck :rotfl:

There's no words really. How do you even help this guy? It won't be a pleasant experience for him and he'll come back blaming you :rotfl:.

I'd be too frustrated to offer him advice.

:lmao:Magic Kingdom would be my choice maybe he does not understand how big the place is.
We also have friends that have been there for only the afternoon straight of the plane they loved it but regretted not having allocated more time.

hey

i'd tell him animal kingdom...that'll teach him:cool1:

by the time he gets back fro KSC [if he does everything there] it'll be around 6-7pm....so he may as well head to DTD and save his $$$$$$, eat at T-Rex and then get a taxi to boardwalk for the epcot fireworks @ 9...sit at entrance with a large cup cake and refreshing cocktail...thus ending the night watching all the drunks leave epcot.....dinner and a show:thumbsup2

Wow, I'd have to say MK because he'll come back and say anywhere else wasn't even really Disney.... He's in for a disappointment either way with only half a day to see anything, what a waste. :sad2:

I'm going to say Magic Kingdom since it's open later, and I like the fireworks better. :b He's wasting time / money though. Should stay much longer!

I want to say Epcot as well, but I think MK is probably the best for a small (very small) dose of Disney

Yeah, I gave him the impression I didnt know too much - I couldnt be bothered with the lesson - this guy is quite well travelled, but not in a Disney way. :rotfl2:, generally thinks he knows everything about everything..:rotfl:

His wife is going to a convention for five days next week - he and their 16year old are tagging along, he is hiring a mustang and driving to Miami for a day and the next he is going to KSC - he is quite excited about this, I remember him asking me about it last year - but not so fussed about Disney  not sure what his plans are for the other days but he wanted to go to a park after KSC just for the evening.

I suggested Magic Kingdom for the castle and fireworks - but he is after more of an adrenaline rush - so I said maybe Hollywood Studios.

Really, I just cant imagine going to Orlando and not hitting all the parks, as well as Universal!:)

I love AustrailianKarens idea. I vote with her. The good news is at his hotel he can buy an afternoon ticket and get in for less. Maybe you send him to Hollywood Studios. He can't use extra magic hours so maybe the park that is open late. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Some people make me laugh. What do you say???? I would agree with everyone that has said the park that is open the latest.

I have heard people say that they didn't go to Epcot because it was to big :confused3

I have no idea what to say to these people. These are the same people that ask me "How many times have you been to WDW" and furrow their brows in a vain attempt to understand. :rotfl2:

There are no words :scared:

i don't understand the idea of just going to a park for an afternoon.

especially someplace the size of wdw.

we opted out of going there for 4 days as we didn't think we could justify only spending that little amount of time there...

for just an afternoon?

i think he's crazy and he really cannot see anything more than the front gate & a few shops in an afternoon, maybe a few rides and that it really doesn't do a place like wdw justice.

it just seems to me that this person doesn't respect the idea of travelling to wdw and just wants to tick it off a bucket list...

you should send him to universal studios/islands of adventure. or seaworld or something. at least they're smaller and it's less of a travesty if they don't explore them to their fullest :)

OMG...thats exactly what my friend said, she just got back 2 weeks ago.....wanted to go to Epcot but it looked too big......Crazy is as crazy does.:confused3

I tried to train her, honest.

I'd suggest Epcot, it's nice just to experience, even if you don't do anything. Also there's a bigger variety of dinner options, but having said that AustralianKaren makes sense - save the money and just to DTD.

People are weird...

For me I think if you are going all that way the best way would be straight through the gates of Magic kingdom. A parade, dinner at crystal palace, a couple of rides and fireworks to finish. Would be making the best of poor time allocation.

Coincidently I had a friend do th same but at DLR. they got enough of a taste to book a 7 day trip with their kids later that year.( she didn't have her kids with her) but it could go either way as I do remember them telling me about how long the lines were, only a few rides ( it was afternoon visit only) blah blah ( ie:no research done at all!) but then used that time in the lines to settle in to Disney time.

what I don't understand is why he would go all the way over there and then sit for hours and hours in a hire car! Why would you drive all the way down to Miami and back in 1 day - that's 8 hours in a car, on a boring dead straight expressway. And out to KSC and back - that 3 -4 hrs in the car - dead straight expressway. Holy Guacamole

In fact I am going to add I think it is dangerous. I had trouble driving on my own and staying awake and alert for the 2 hours out to to Tampa - and I didn't do the run back on the same day. I think he is putting himself and son in danger attempting to do that much driving.

I'd be saying "just stay in Orlando" do some parks, do some shopping, have some nice meals, relax.

I remember the reply from asking someone once about their trip to Florida and they said...

"Oh yes...we did all the Disney parks...Disneyland, Universal and Sea World..."

ummmmm...say what? Yep...that's the 3 Disney parks right! :lmao:

I say Epcot. It has the best Night time atmosphere I think. Won't be plastered in Mickey and Minnie, but it still is Disney. And if he wants adrenaline - Mission Space Orange team :rotfl:
