I'm so excited. I just called and booked for Oct. 5-7 on points and decided to book on cash for the 8th. I think I am going to call back and book on cash for the 9th as well.

We were trying for a studio or 1 bdrm., preferably, but they only had dedicated 2 bdrms. for our trip available. Oh well, my 2 girls, who are 12 and 9, will have their own bedroom and bath. They will LOVE that!

How is it there the first of October? Is the ocean still warm? We have never been and any information on anything there will be appreciated. I'm off now to read the HHI thread...

HHI is outstanding for family vacations. Here are some thoughts

1. call Disney HHI direct at front desk, they can fax you an activity sheet, it will be for this week but it would give you an idea of what you want to pencil in ph.843-341-4100

2. there are tons of flyers and magazines in the area, if you want a nice one, there is one called 101 things to do. We received ours at check in and it basically gives you every option out there. If you want to get one now, call 843-682-3205 or email: margotelse@hotmail.com Not sure if there is a cost

This can get you started.

2 musts are A. Dolphin tour and B. get some bikes, bike trails are everywhere and family fun.

Wow! Thanks for the info. I'm hoping the Dolphin tours are offered when we go. We are thinking about letting the kids bring their own bikes since we are driving. I hope this trip is a good as I think it will be!!!!

Here is a little more on our dolphin experience from another thread:

We just came back from our trip last week. I recommend the disney tour set up for one main reason.

1. There is a six person limit with the disney tour and they contract this out. We hit the jackpot and it was just DW, DD and myself on our trip. so if this is the first time doing a dolphin tour it was outstanding to have the boat all by ourselves. We boarded with a guide named Craig and he was veey helpful and informative while doing the cruise. So it was like our own private tour! He turned anyway we asked him to for photos and close up looks! He is knowledgable and helps with all questions on dolphins and what dolphins daily life consists of. You board right at the Disney boat slip and the tour guide will meet you right where you sign up for the tour, at the recreation / pool area.

With that being said, other tour boats passed us and they were loaded with passengers so that is why I recommend the Disney run tour, nice private, informative and it was just awesome!

There are outside tours offered other than the disney and you may save $10. or $15. per person. The disney tour is $40.00 per person and you can probably find an outside tour for $25.00 per person but when you check in there will give you an activity sheet and on certain days Disney has a DVC member day discount of 10%. I know every Weds. is standard discount day but they had it on a Mon. as well and that is when we went.

Tours are at 9, 11, and 1 each day.

Nice job, you will love Hilton Head. Enjoy your vacation and the time with your family.:cool1::banana:

We're looking to go to HHI for the first time in April 2011. I look forward to hearing what you and others have to say about it.

Have a great time and I'd book the extra night too! ;)

Where can I find the info on the cash price for weekends? I'm wanting to pay cash for my Fri/Sat stay as well.

It is a perfect time. Of course, weather can be fickle or troublesome at this time, but chances are it will be perfect for much or all of the time. Have a wonderful trip :beach:

Just call member services and they can tell you if they have any cash reservations available. That's what I did when booking. I didn't want to spend that many points for the weekends.

Thanks, we are really looking forward to the trip!

great! You will soon be a fan of HHI as many of us are. we added on in 2002 and 2010 again at this resort for the 11 month window for summer. We have spent 5 summers there along with many xmas weeks and days before and after wdw vacation on our drive to and from Boston. There is tons to do and the beach and pools are wonderful. As previous post said, you can get the weekly activities from the reosrt. We had great 4 nights June 6-10 this year and will be there 12/30-1/1/2011 on our way back from AKLV xmas week.. Have a great time!

The ocean will still be around 80 degrees and the air temps will be great too with warm days and pleasant evenings.

Enjoy! :)
