Sitting here killing time waiting to hear from animal control. A/C technicians were just here to finish the duct work on the job when they backed out and stopped.
Apparently there is a RATTLESNAKE and at least 5 babies under the house.:scared1: ( Manufactured double-wide ) I am gulping down coffee but feel like I need a Scotch

Guess I'm just looking for some good thoughts, sympathy, whatever. Prayers for my horse out there would be welcomed. The dogs are all in the house with me.

Very creeped out sometimes ignorance is bliss, now I KNOW it's right under my feet. :scared: Intellectually I know it probably won't go anywhere unless someone is near it and its babies, but emotionally I feel as if my heart is going to leap out of my chest!

and how is YOUR day going ????

My day is going better than yours, thankfully! OMG. That would scare the heck out of me.

Things you learn county Animal Control doesn't take care of it, Fish and Wildlife doesn't either all they do is give out numbers that are no longer in service don't know whether to hysterically laugh or cry ....calls in to several services apparently a busy time of year

“Snakes. Why’d it have to be snakes?”........ she says in her best Indiana Jones voice......

Here....... I think you deserve this. :drinking1

 thank you ...last year I actually had a snake get in, oh that was a funny dance that I had no choice but to get it out myself. This is a whole different saga and the last one was not a rattle.

Joys of a truck driver husband out on the road...NOTHING ever happens when he's home  actually maybe that's a blessing he would THINK he was Indiana Jones.... yeah better he misses all this

Yikes - DW freaked out over a 5" long ringsnake in the garage yesterday (had 2 more in he break room at work, oddly enough) yesterday.

But Rattlesnakes???:scared1:

YUCK!!! I hope everyone comes out alright.

Did you know there are rattlesnake avoidance classes for dogs?

One of our cats actually brought at snake INTO the house! You should have seen me dance when he dropped it. :faint: Thankfully it headed behind a piece of furniture and we cornered it. Oh, and thankfully it wasn't a RATTLESNAKE!

Tell DW that is an earthworm compared to this :scared1: Now that I am thinking about it, my horse has a habit of coming to the kitchen window for a snack. The day they put in the A/C she refused to come near this end of the house. Wouldn't come to my calls. She must have known.

Most hardware stores sell a snake repelant, or you can also buy mothballs and put under your house every couple of months and that should help prevent others from moving in.

We have lived in our home for 10 years and have had to deal with rattlesnakes quite often...I had to kill one for a neighbor when she moved in before her husband and family joined her (new job) and she was all alone and didn't know anybody.

our dogs were bitten quite often. Our sweet girl had it so many times, that the vet joked he could make anti-venom from her blood (she passed a couple of years ago, old age, not snakes). And last year our beagle tussled with one and was very touch and go (I was mad at myself because I had the snake repellant in the garage, just didn't get around to spreading it along the fenceline.)

The big problem is we live in an area that still has tons of new construction on old farm land...and all the critters head our way looking for new homes.

I have found that horses have REALLY good instincts about snakes.

So hopefully she'll be okay!

Nice in thought but not leaving the horse or the dogs

You have no idea how much I wished your location said FL rather than TX I am very afraid no one is going to be able to come today, still waiting on a call back. There seems to be only one company in this area.

Could you please post the name of the snake repellent you have used? I am dealing with a copperhead infested back yard. I was running the string trimmer a few days ago and it kicked back a 15" copperhead at my feet. I lost my religion and almost bladder control. :scared:

Nope, nope and even more nope. LuvChefMickey you got all my mopes today. I'm paralyzed in fear 1000s of miles from you!

I'll add a few more nopes to that I am STILL waiting. Apparently raccoons in someones attack were ahead of my snakes under my feet :scared1:

Here is hoping the snakes are still there when they arrive and have not ventured into other spaces where they cant be found.

:thumbsup2

We had a small snake on the sidewalk a few nights ago. DH kept dog away. Told me, "it's probably not anything to worry about." We live in the middle of a corn field. And you're right about the truck driving husband...never home when exciting happens. Come to think about it, he was deployed during those times.

We had a family of mice move in this winter. I beat one to pulp with a Lazer Tag gun. :cool2:
