we are due to stay at POR in sept. i went and paid my balance to day. just to satisfy myslef that payment had gone through, i've just double checked my booking and the price has just gone up by £1305
i almost burst into tears, and am still shaking (shock or anger - i'm not sure which).
we bookied last Oct for 3 adults and 2 children, i paid my deposit (£250) when we booked. when i went online today to pay the balance, the original price was still showing, and only went up after i paid the balance. the first thing i did was call disney uk. the lady was confused as to why the system had increased the price, and put me on hold what felt like ages. when she came back she said it was because we booked under the old contract when they could book a party of 5 in AB at POR. under the new contract you can no longer book parties of 5 at POR via Disney travel company - even though the trundles are still in the rooms! (i know 'scottish mum' posted a thread about no longer booking 5 at por earlier this yr). anyway, apparently when i paid the balance, the system recognised there were too many of us to fit in one room, and allocated us a second room -which is where the extra £1305 came from. i said that surely they have to honour the original booking, she said yes, but she couldn't sort it out and had passed it on to someone else; who would phone/email me to let me know its been sorted. its going to be an anxious wait until that happens. i'm now paranoid that they'll come back with bad news.....
while i was on the phone i tried to get the 12 digit US reservation number out of her, as i know some people have had problems booking their ADR's. she said that disney dining in the US would find it for me, and assured me i didn't need it - only time will tell with that one,as i still have 3 weeks until i can make my ADR's. i wasn't in the mood to argue the toss over this one.
the funny thing is (not that i'm laughing at the moment) my youngest DS is 2, i always thought that a 2yr old could count as an extra and go in a pack n play anyway, so dont see why its a major issue.
UDATE: disney got back to me, and said they have now sorted it. we are now back in one room and do not owe any more money. they also confirmed that while the resort still has the trundle beds, the London booking office is no longer contracted to these rooms; and so there will be no more bookings for parties of 5 taken anymore
if you are a party of 5 booked at POR, and have yet to pay the balance, i would advise that you do not leave the payment until the final day as you may experience the same problem. also if you pay your final balance via the website, go back and check the same thing has not happened to you. i wouldn't have even known if i hadn't gone back to double check my booking.
