Hey-My autistic announced where he wanted to go out to eat for his birthday Friday....Olive Garden!! I am a bread lover on Atkins--and loving the plan! It is totally working for me, so I have not cheated--AT ALL!!! :p Anyway, I am trying to come up with ideas for dinner, grilled chicken with veggies, but what sauce? I checked calorie king.com for info on carbs/fiber, and as suspected, some alfredos are good, others aren't. Any suggestions?

I don't have any idea on a cream sauce. Looking at the menu, The Chicken Parmigiana says it's breaded with parmesan, the marinara sauce will have some carbs. It might work?

DH had the Tuscan T-bone and had roasted vegs. (changed from potatoes & peppers). He liked it alot and it works fine for Atkins.

I had the Mixed Grill with extra roasted vegs. (no potatoes) I don't know if the demi-glace sauce was thicken with flour/corn starch. Didn't ask...I'm not on Atkins and there wasn't much of it anyway.:D

Hope this helps some.

Wow--that would be so hard for me, because I am used to eating the huge portions of salad and pasta. I went to the website, and they do have something called the "garden fare" which if you click on it gives some nutritional analysis--but almost everything on the list is very high in carbs. Looking at their dinner menu, I would order the pork, the T-bone or the mixed grill or one of the chicken dishes. Good luck.

Beastlover...what about chicken Marsala??? Just ask them not to bread the chicken...(its not really suppose to be anyway). its made with marsala wine sauce and mushrooms.

OR you can see if they have chicken francschesse. (lemon chicken) now this one is breaded...but they don 't have to.

Do they have steak? You could get one with some brocclli..I like to order drawn butter on the side of my brocclli...and dip it in..just to watch everyone else around me...think I am eating something they could NEVER eat....lol

How about grilled Shrimp or the Fish of the Day? You may need to ask...but its worth it. Stay away from the soups and breadsticks and just eat the salad...ask for a side of goat cheese or feta cheese..it makes the salads yummier (is that a word)..lol

You can do it!!! I know you can!!!! Just think of how AMAZING you are going to feel walking out of there Knowing you did what is BEST for YOUSELF and Making your DS?/DD? birthday happy!!

Let us know how it turns out!!!

I know I can do it...I really just don't want to unintentionally screw up!! I have a 25 mile bike ride Saturday nite and I don't want to have a "carb hangover"!! Those all sound like great ideas--I am really looking forward to it! It will be nice to have chicken or steak with veggies cooked differently than I have been cooking them!! My DS is excited too!! He'll hoover down a plate of spaghetti in seconds flat! We just make sure we don't get in the way, or else we will lose a limb!! On the other hand, how much does a limb weigh??? lol!!!

I am sure you will be fine, Beastlover...I can't offer any help, unfortunately, since the last time I was at Olive Garden, I wasn't on Atkins, so I ate pretty well!!:p

Have fun! :)
