A cruise.

We've never cruised. Our last two trips were to WDW, and the last one was waaaaay more expensive than we'd anticipated. (Ok, the dinners at Kona, the Wishes cruise, the shopping...we did it to ourselves. But we have no self-control! :rotfl2: ) We've had a heck of a year... our 20th anniversary was in July and we didn't even make it out to dinner. Anyway. THings are settled now, and better than before--but man, we need a break.

We've been dithering and dithering. What I really, really want is for a guaranteed good time for the kids and ADULT TIME. And despite the lures of the cheaper lines, we looked and looked and thought, and the Disney cruise offers the best for us.

So now I'm waiting verrrry impatiently for an email from Christine at Fairy Tale Adventures (recommended by Cdn dis'ers!) to see if she can match the price we got from Cruises Inc. Either way, I hope we'll actually have a ressie today. Dec 9 4 nt on the Wonder I believe. Updating, Christine has our deposit! She was fun to talk to, she totally got why I was pacing the kitchen as she was doing the paperwork on the phone!

Nothing else. Waiting for a ding or something, and planning on finding a week somewhere else to flesh out the trip (maybe the Keys or Sanibel--anybody been there in Dec?) But figuring it'll fall in place somehow.

We're going to try to keep it a secret from the kids I think--wish us luck!

Yippee!!

Happy 20th anniversary! You will love the cruise, we did the cruise, we were on The Wonder for our honeymoon in 2001. Also plan to go again one day when kids are a few years older (dh wants to cruise more than I, the boat made me ill). Good Luck keeping it a secret! :wizard:

We just went on our first cruise a few weeks ago! Wasn't Disney - we went Carnival as I couldn't justify the price of disney - some day perhaps but we loved the cruise so much we've now booked another in March.
Sure is a great way to see many different places in one trip... and you sure do get well looked after!! Even after being home for a week and a half I'm still waiting for someone to come turn down my bed at night and leave me a little chocolate on my pillow :lmao:
A great site I found to learn everything about cruising that you ever wanted to know is cruisecritic.com

BitsnBearsMom isn't the chocolate melting cake to die for.

We have been on 3 carnival cruises and looking to book a 4th next year. First is WDW in December though. Keep switching back and forth between to two.

We have been on two DCL cruises and loved both - a 4 night and a 7 night Eastern. I am hoping to book another for 2008 (on DVC points this time so we'll see :)).

DH was extremely skeptic on the 4 night and thought he would hate cruising - wrong!!!!!! He LOVED it and was all for the second (and now the third to be booked) cruise. The cruise is great for both family and alone time. Not sure how old your kids are but we sailed when DS was just turned 4 and he enjoyed the kids club but was a bit young (IMHO) so stayed with us for quite a bit - still had a fabulous time. We sailed again when he was almost 5 and let's just say we likely saw him for maybe 1-2 hours a day - the rest was in the Club! You should go to the cruise board and join a group sailing at the same time as you - it's a great way to plan and get even more excited about your cruise. You will have all the Christmas decorations up on the ship which are truly beautiful (and CC is decorated too which is a great photo op).

Have a great time! And show your DH this pic of my DH who didn't think he would like cruising!:

Dutchsmommy, thanks, I was wondering if there'd be any holiday decorations up. We'll be getting home pretty close to Christmas, so probably won't have a lot up at home. Neat picture!

Congratulations! You're going to love every second of your cruise!

Come on over to the cruise forum here -- you'll find lots of great folks willing to answer all your questions.

Plus, there is a sub-forum there for Cruise Meets, where you can find your cruise and meet your fellow cruisers :)

It was like a little bit of heaven in a bowl considering the PMS gods were calling for chocolate :lmao:

OK, while we are on the topic of cruises...

What is with no 7 night cruise over Christmas/New Years? (other then the special Costa Maya)

Not sure they would be going to Costa Maya either - Hurricane Dean destroyed the port the week we were supposed to be there in august and the last I read there would be no cruises going to Costa Maya for at least 6 to 8 months - so that's till at least Feb to April.
